So we picked up a Q3 over Christmas and I had the windows tinted and wasn't happy with the results.

Credit to the company they didn't complain and re-did the rear. This is where I think it's gone wrong. Washing the car yesterday there are , what I think are broke elements in the heated orange strips. Does that stop those elements from working or the whole screen ?

Thoughts about how bad it is or isn't.

Yup, while they were scraping the old tint off, they must've scraped that wire. This particular line should not heat anymore.
As long as the main "orange" wires by the sides of the window, from top to bottom are not damaged, all other horizontal ones should work.

Was it the same garage who sold you the car or independent? If independent, was it any Tom, **** and Harry or reputable company.

Go to them and demand whole window replaced and properly tinted or get them to pay you for that, upon quote from proper garage.

"Global" sounds reputable to me.
If they value their reputation, they would bend backwards for you.
If not, they'll turn around.

Guy who tinted my windows said I have a lifetime warranty. Any time I can call him to rectify the problem.

Wonder why he actually did not return my calls?Lol
Guess it's a type of a trade as he is literally Tom, **** and Harry in one:wtf:

As above, those lines are dead. They wont heat up and de-mist the window

So you know the cause, problem, who's caused it, demand repair or refund for job as well new window. If not, proceed with claim. Unless you don't got any invoice from them (or slip from payment card).

So after a few calls and emails I've had a local company replace the rear screen. After it was agreed I a had a cheeky conversation with the manager at the glass centre and got upgraded to the standard privacy screen. I think it's also got DAB and TV

Did anybody agreed to do that at their own cost or did you had to pay for it?

Just saw this thread and went and instantly checked mine. Suffice to say some of the elements are broken on my read windscreen. Had them done by global tints like you. How did you go about getting them cover the cost of the windscreen replacement?
