yourAudi - Track New Car Order

Well, I feel like an idiot!

It seems like I jumped the gun MASSIVELY!

So even though I have the registration number for my car, it isn't registered yet! WTF!? How is that even possible??
Dealer says he is just getting everything in place so that once everything is confirmed we are ready to pull the trigger. So even though I know my registration, and have used this info to get 5 days free insurance sorted which starts this Friday....... it isn't registered. :wtf:

:scared2:

That registration can change at ANY time if someone in any dealer network in the UK picks that registration - unless that particular dealership have reserved those regs and put a notice on their systems that it's not to be used. I wouldn't have activated the insurance at all though until you knew you were picking car up, it may not even be here for Friday.

Just following orders! That's what has confused me!

When he told me to activate it for Friday I replied saying .... "Using my Sherlock Holmes methods of deduction, can I assume that we are looking at a collection between Friday and Tuesday then??"

Was a few emails after that I was told it wasn't in fact registered yet!

I hope they're going to pay for 5 days free insurance for you if it's not with you in time then. Seems a bit silly to me of him to suggest that to you.

They will have to! Call me foolish but I thought since he was so precise in wanting me to start the insurance and on which day he must have known when the transporter is due to deliver.

Maybe he does, and like you say maybe they have that reg reserved. The confirmation he is waiting for to pull the trigger could just be the switch to status 60, and if he has been told that I'm due to be collected from Grimsby tomorrow for example then it's a fairly safe bet. Who knows though!? The amazingly good mood I was in all day has been dashed somewhat!

I'm sure they do know when they're due a transporter next in, any time I've inquired about a car on the showroom they've always told me we're expecting a delivery on such and such a date - maybe he does, but who knows.

My dealer has pretty much said the same thing he can provide me with all the details but he says its no point, and telling me to stop reading incorrect information lol!!. He says the car registration is not valid, the car has to be in the UK for 5 days after the transport order has been raised, then they could potentially register the car. If its physically at the dealers before this date they could certainly do this otherwise not. He says having the number plate means nothing!!.

They probably will have a date but, maybe towards end of the week, dealer says the admin department normally deals with this.

How do you know it's not registered?

How do you know it's not registered?
Dealer confirmed in email.

Basically he mentioned something about not being able to tax the car until I have signed some registration details forms. I replied saying that there is no immediate rush to actually tax the car so long as it was registered prior to April 1st, as when we do come to tax it we will be under the current laws.
Then he dropped the bomb letting me know it isn't registered but we are getting everything in place to do it all ASAP

Forgot to mention due to polices and procedures the car can only be registered once it leaves the showroom, as Steelster confirmed the registration paperwork needs to be signed including taxing the car on the day before taking the vehicle, only then the vehicle is officially registered.

There must be someone who knows exactly the situation with these new laws and registrations! All these caveats are ridiculous! How are nissan and renault etc and whoever else offering "GUARANTEED WE BEAT THE NEW VED" sorting it out?

If what you're saying is absolutely true then surely to avoid the VED we all need to be actually collecting the cars before saturday! If thats the case then I think I can kiss goodbye to the chances of that, only landed in the country Sunday night/Monday morning!

There should have been a grace period from the government for vehicles that had ordered before a certain date. Being so close yet far from registering is really frustrating. Blaming the Tories for this!!

That's right we have to collect on Friday to avoid the increase. He says its looking unlikely and is waiting for the transport company to get back to the admin department with a pick up date and then he will let me know. He also mentioned there are 10 other people who are in a similar position and understands my frustration.

I think the other dealers have "new stock cars" which can be registered straight away, or they are selling nearly new cars, other then that am not sure.

Just got a call from the dealership saying its on a boat, now city of Oslo or Neckar highway

I thought it was it had to be registered before Saturday regardless of collection date after that.

Nope according to the dealers, the car has to be physically at the dealers before Saturday, only then they can register the car otherwise its not possible. They can provide you with the number plate but, its just in preparation for speeding the registration process. However, the registration paperwork needs to be signed including taxing the car on the day before taking the vehicle, only then the vehicle is officially registered.

So if all documents are signed etc on Friday or before then that is all sorted and you'll be ok even if collection is Saturday or aftwewards? Or do you actually have to take full collection of the car and drive it out of the showroom on Friday or before?

You have to take full collection of the car on Friday or before including signing the paperwork (drive it from the showroom). I'll suggest who ever has even a slight chance to collect car before or on Friday is to ask the dealer to book 31 as a provisional collection date. If the car arrives for example on a Thursday then the dealer can do their PDI and it will be ready for collection on Friday hopefully!.

Maybe this is what my dealer has in mind when he's asked me to sort my insurance to start on Friday?! So if that is the case then he clearly is doing all he can to get me sorted!

If it helps I've had the video of the car arriving on the transporter at the dealership but mine too is not registered until Friday, collecting it then. I went from status 40 to 70 real quick :)

Do all dealers do this video? I've seen a few on here of their dealers doing it.

I'm not sure Sam. It was a really nice touch but makes you want it even more. I hate waiting at the best of times!

Yes I would presume so. I've done the same with my dealer and booked a provisional date of the 31st however, he has already warned me the chances are very slim. I can only hope!!

Mmm still sitting at 38 even though I was told yesterday I'm on a boat.

If you spec the car over £40k then yes!

If it gets registered before 1st April it's £185 per year

Registered after and car list price below £40k it's £500 first year, £140 every year after

Registered after and car price over £40k it's £500 first year, £450 year 2,3,4,5,6 then £140 after.

I have an S-T BE S3 Saloon that is due for build on the 17th April, it was specced before January 10th (Audi increased their prices) and the ROTR price is £40,500. Audi have assured me that my car will dip under £40k for the list price.

List price and ROTR price are different. ROTR includes VED and first registration fee which they are able to offset. VED for example is £500 (1st year) and registration fee is £60, so I literally just dip under at £39,940. I don't think delivery charges should be included in the price either to be fair (But they are) as potentially I could pick my car up from factory and not have a delivery charge.

The extra £310 supplement for £40K+ cars WILL have an effect on resale and desirability once the vehicle is 12 months old. If you were searching for an S3, you would pretty much filter out all the £40k+ registered cars. £310 x 5 = £1550 additional tax..

Edit....Just double checked my figures, its ROTR price is £40,550 meaning my list price is £39,990. (Minus £500 VED and £60 Reg fee) Just about as close as you can possibly get.

The law defines the price as the car’s list price, so any discount you are able to negotiate won’t affect the car’s VED band. The list price is the price of the car before the ‘on-the-road’ charges are added, such as a delivery charge, new vehicle registration fee, numberplates and fuel.

Beware, too, that if you buy a car that has a list price of less than £40k, but add some options that take the price over the threshold, you’ll be liable for the higher rate of tax. In short, an option for a few hundred pounds could end up costing you more than £1500 over five years in extra VED costs.

I think its up to the dealers. Mine told me he could register at code 40. He never told me the process but I expected them to insist on paperwork and finance in place first. If one can do it then the others can too.

Doesn't matter now. I must have been very lucky with road transporters as I was hoping for registration this week, but yesterday I was told I could pick it up on Friday! Still in transit so won't believe it until I see it...

Off the boat last Friday, pick up this Friday - the last day of March - that's as fine as you can cut it for VED.
BTW officially BW10 but actually started in BW9, Biggest delay was 10 days in Emden

Strange how all the BW10's are landing this week,

My original BW10 was infect built in BW9, and is still sat in Emden :boxing::boxing:

orderStatus":"38","deliveryDealerCode":"00613","orderHistory"

orderStatus":"30","statusDate":"2017-03-10T01:08:34+0000"

orderStatus":"24","statusDate":"2017-03-06T00:00:00+0000"

orderStatus":"23","statusDate":"2017-03-04T00:00:00+0000"

orderStatus":"22","statusDate":"2017-03-03T00:00:00+0000"

My car left Ingolstadt on the 10th and hasn't moved since, anyone have any idea why there is no date or time next to my Order status 38?

Quite frustrating how the car was built early, I had a original collection date of the 30-03-2017
Yet now I'm being told its going to be atleast 2 weeks, with the car being £43000 - it appears I'm going to have to bite my lip on the VED

:grumpy::grumpy: Sad times! But I'm sure itll be worth it

It will go straight to status 39 when it's on a boat which will then give you a time stamp, when did you get to Emden? I was BW9 and I only got to UK on Sunday. Agonising 15 day wait and I also had a collection date for the 31 march, but I don't think I will be able to collect then!!

I've just got the same response from ishitiak as well lol, I've rang the dealer to confirm but he wasn't there, left a message for a phone call ASAP. That was quick, looks like I might pick up on Friday after all!!

Anyone of the sales people there should've been able to tell you if you gave them your order number at the dealer. Should call back and ask :) Let us know what's said.

Your statement above is incorrect I am afraid. The List price is inclusive of delivery charge, fuel and number plates.

The OTR cost adds the VED and the registration fee (in the eyes of the DVLA) Page 6

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...form-webinar-presentation-10-january-2017.pdf

"The list price is the price on the day before the date on which the vehicle will be taxed and registered for the first time"

In addition, on Audi's own website, they state "Vehicles with a list price exceeding £40,000 (Including factory options, delivery charge, number plates and VAT)

Just for reference, an S3 Black Edition S-Tronic Saloon has a ROTR price of £38,505 before any options, metallic paint etc. Add in Metallic paint and Tech pack for the VC and you are at £40,450. Add on the sports seats and you are at over £41k.

Facelift S3's need the VC in my opinion so that option is a 'must'. Not leaving a lot of room for anything else considering £40,559 is the limit on an S3 (Minus the £560 VED and reg fees)

I understand what you are saying, you could be right and I had found the information from

http://www.whatcar.com/news/2017-ved-rates-list-price-vs-price-paid/

Hope all those wanting/needing to collect before Fridays deadline for the VED changes goes smoothly !! And if not - Audi come up with suitable recompense to cover the extra £310 a year.

When I ordered my SB S3 back in January - dealership didn't know/played dumb Re the VED changes - so after doing my own checking/reading up - tweaked my order so as to be below the 40K OTR price (dropped the advanced Key/Pano roof)

Order just changed to a Orderstatus 20

orderHistory":[{"orderStatus":"20","statusDate":"2017-03-28T01:06:08+0100"}

But that suits me - as current Mercedes A220 due to be handed back Early June - so didn't want any overlap with the 2 cars.

Lucky devil! You and @Sam Millar were both on the same ship as me and mine is still in Grimsby port. Typical as Hull Audi is only 30 miles away!! I've suggested some extreme methods of collection to my dealer so waiting on his response!
