Mark the date in the calendar and pray you receive the NIP through the door after 14 days. This loop hole doesn't work if you aren't the registered keeper and receive it after 14 days. For example if you were in a hire car for example.

I got a summons for doing 92 in a 70, you don't have to go to court if you plead guilty if I remember

2 weeks before my court date they offered me a fixed penalty which I gladly took

He already has the NIP, that's how he knows how fast he was going.

I got done doing 60 in a 30 last year and took it to trial and got away with it cost me a £1000 but worth it don't know if that's any help

i would imagine most people like to go fast otherwise we wouldnt be driving S models but like you say there is a time and a place to have a blast people that speed round town have no excuse if they get caught , you can have fun and still be a safe driver

Theres a 20mph limit on the main road to my street and i constantly have a line of white van men, school run mothers, and buisness suits up my a.s.s because i stick to it

Chalk it to experience Tristan. Not many people these days have a 100% clean license. Good result in the circumstances.

Back to enjoying the car.

Don't know the details but your gonna have to bend over and take it like a man. Not like you crept over the limit (Happens to us all)
 
I was stopped by a laser gun copper doing 57 on a 40. As had active 9 points already, they issued me FPN with 3 points and £100 fine. Did not accept it as it equals to 12 points and a 6 months ban.
Ended up to hire a lawyer for £1000, gone to court and got 28 day ban and £200 fine.
My premium is higher than a atmosphere now!

Also, got 6 points 3 years ago (part of the 9 mentioned earlier) for doing 58 in a 40. Again being stopped by a smurf with a laser gun. Took me to court straight away as had no licence on me. Had to send it to dvla for address change and got points and £200 fine but didn't attend court hearing personally as it wasn't necessary. Been only notified of the judgment by letter.

All my points are now expired but still on licence until November (3 years active + 1 more year on licence + 1 more year to inform insurers).

Not bad for for 6 years licence holder, isn't it?

Well, there's also using the car's performance within the speed limits - acceleration and road holding (like the traffic light grand prix up to the speed limit & being able to negotiate roundabouts without slowing down if you don't care about your tyres ;-))

And with you on the 20MPH (or indeed other limits) and other drivers. And good for you for sticking to it :)

This is great fun. Sometimes though I end up causing crossing pedestrians on the roundabout exit to run across or back to the pavement because they didn't expect me to materialise out of nowhere. Very naughty and I should really ensure my exit is clear before going for it. Good test of the brakes though.

What a complete pair of muppets.

Firsly, pedestrians have right of way, at no point should have they have to run back once they've started to make a crossing because some immature buffoon comes flying around a roundabout without due care and attention. You could kill someone.

Secondly, whilst the application of some speed limits are debatable, the adherence to them is for the safety of not only yourself, but for that of other road users and pedestrians. Fine if you don't care about your own life, but please have a thought for the lives of others (parents, partners and children) that you effect when your speed is a factor in an accident that kills someone.

Considering how you've admitted you've got essentially 12 points on your licence (other than a technicality), most of which were for speeding, in 6 years.....my statement is more than valid. In fact, you're a danger to other road users and in my view should have your licence ripped up before you kill someone.


The laws are in place for a reason. It's not up to you to decide which ones to follow based on what you believe or agree with; they ALL apply, whether you agree with them or not.
 
I know what I did and I have my feelings about it that you'll never understand.
Arrogant phonies can never wrap their heads around it.

You should be a Police officer or a judge, "Mr I know it all".

It's good that you've opened up about previous errors of judgement but the real question is - have you learned anything?

That joker who's revelling in making pedestrians run for their lives needs disqualified yesterday.

Yes, SteveMcB. I did learned a lot.
That's why I got so with this opelfruit guy. He does know Jack about me and he judged me.

First time I was speeding as my wife said she wasn't feeling great as she was pregnant that time. Second time, had a work meeting early in the morning and was running late. My son was teething whole night and fall asleep in the morning but so did I also. So to rush to the meeting, from which I supposed to have a commission, I sped. As got caught, lost commission of £500 from large order.
Both situations I was clear minded and did it on the empty road so no one else was in eventual danger.
As I have a family now and was expecting it at the time of first offence, I know exactly what I need to do.

After first speeding offence I could not drive for few weeks as was scare I'll crash into someone. Approaching the roundabout was a nightmare for me.
Luckily I got past it and got back behind the wheel more confident and focused not to commit any type of offence anymore.
In fact, I'm getting angry when someone does not use indicators, under cut me, cut me off, drive too fast on the busy road or drive with position lights only in the dark.
Usually drive alone to and from work but when I have a family on board, I make sure We safely get back home.

Hope Tristan2 and anybody who was speeding will take this as a lesson and Hear-Vier come to he's senses.

Theres a time and a place for speed and usually its not for the roads. A driving licence is not an entitlement, its a privaledge. Any motor vehicle is like a loaded weapon in the wrong hands it can kill.
Sadly its usually **** heads that cause mayhem on the roads, walk away injury free when others get hurt. Perhaps if they saw some real life collisions and the aftermath of idiots driving too fast and the effect it has on lifes they may act a bit more mature

Unfortunately I was one of the speeding person and I deeply regret it.

You don't really need to excessively speed to cause a bad effect to some stranger.

I got hit from the rear in the slow traffic. Driven off three car lengths forward and a private hire Merc hit me from behind. He had not more than 15 mph on the clock when he got distracted by a mobile phone.
I've ended up with back injury and few months physio as had back problems in the past and this hit just flared up again.

There is not enough of us who will remind other road users to switch on their lights in the dar or to show some indication of their intentions on the road when you drive safely.

Im not here to come across as "peter perfect" i too got done some years ago in a works vehicle, 37 in a 30. Usually 10% +3. Having previously exemplory driving record it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. That said in todays times i would imagine there are more people with at least 3 points on their licence. I would say though having had the stigma of points on my licence i would be extra carefull whereas some just seem braisen about it
 
How long does it normally take to get your license back after sending it off to have points put on

Surely you don't actually send it off any more? they just add them to the system and they show up when you check your licence online. The card has no indication of points after all.

Also driving fast is fun, but it's a lot more fun on a track where you don't have to watch like a hawk for police / muppets the whole time.
