Anybody cleaned the Virtual Cockpit yet?

Worried about marks or streaks so unsure what to use when the time comes?

I would use a eye glasses cleaning product and a microfibre or lens cloth. You can pick eye glasses cleaning sprays up from most places. Supermarket own brands are generally good enough

Doesn't look like glass to me though... almost like a laptop style screen?

I've not got mine yet (jealous) but I use my glasses cleaner on my Matte MacBook screen without any issues.

Maybe just a small bit squirted onto the cloth to test.

Generally glasses cleaners are not harsh so as not to strip off any lens coatings.

It's 27days till my build week (not that I'm counting ) but yes.... I'm so pleased I added it onto the spec after seeing all the pics/videos.

Not sure what kind of finish the screen has but only bit of advice i can give is to not use a product with alcohol in it. Actually no product at all maybe. Reason being that my friend recently cleaned her Macbook Retina with a wipe and messed up the whole screen. Its a known problem with them and was luckily covered by the warranty but since then iv stayed away from using products on screens. i know the VC is prob more resilient but i know what i would be doing if there were no guidelines.

As an application developer, I've actually started to write an application to monitor for changes and to send them to me... to save me logging in so frequently I figure it would be a hit for the other members too :)

I would have paid for such some script to notify me

I wouldn't spray anything straight to the screen - spray onto a clean microfibre cloth to dampen it then use that

Microfibre cloth with water on it already is all you will need

Use an LCD screen cleaner, get them from places like PC world or eBay and a lint free cloth, spray directly onto the screen

Any brand recommendations for what to clean your screens with? Picked up my new car the other day and my vc screen has a lovely smudge on the right hand side, there’s loads of cheap ones on eBay but I’m a bit dubious about using them :whistle2:

i dont use any products, just a cloth that i clean my glasses with. Nothing else, works fine for me. all that gets on the VC is dust anyway so no need from my end to use products.

Gross as it sound snot will also be an issue, more so if you have allergies or a cold!

Do not use eyeglass cleaners as most have alcohol in it....water and microfibre is great, as one person has already noted.

In 10 months of ownership I have only ever needed to clean mine of dust with a ''dry'' very soft microfiber cloth. Keep your fingers off it & you should be fine.
