My car didn't automatically advance the clock on Sunday :-( (clock set to gps time source option)
I had to do it by selecting "manual summertime "on"
Looking at the handbook, it says under the heading Automatic Summer Time "when the automatic summertime option is on, the time will be set one hour forward or back automatically when summer or wintertime starts"
Mine doesn't have an Automatic Summer Time option! Just Manual Summer Time, which as I said earlier adds an hour if selected to "On"
My logic would suggest that having manual selected to "off" it would be in "auto" but apparently not. Seems strange logic to me?
Havent tried yet but does the Automatic Summertime option only appear if you've got the Quartz clock selected as time source?

Interested in this as I had to do the same workaround this morning. Mine is a PFL.

This issue is raised everytime we change the clocks. It's all a misunderstanding of Audi's strange terminology.
Basically there is no automatic switch for summertime.
You have to manually switch the hour using the setting you are using.
You can set time to auto, but it doesn't account for summertime.

I quoted the handbook,
[QUOTE="when the automatic summertime option is on, the time will be set one hour forward or back automatically when summer or wintertime starts"[/QUOTE]
Are you telling me Audi got it wrong?

I switched on my "set by GPS" setting yesterday and it sprung forward to the correct time?

So what was it set to before? & was the manual summertime also selected to on?
Need the full picture!

I'm sure this can be fixed via VCDS, Mine changed over fine yesterday with me touching it

There is a setting which can be changed via VCDS (etc) in order to facilitate Automatic Daylight Savings Time:
  • 5F > Adaptations > Summertime-automatic = automatic
Facelift cars come pre-activated. Pre-Facelift cars need to be activated.

Cheers, I knew there was something that could be done via VCDS

Happy days - think we added that tweak but impossible to test !

Mine wasn't activated first time clocks went forward in spring '16.

Then I noticed an adaptation for it when poking around.

I'll be in touch then @DJAlix !

I find it a touch retarded that Audi never activated this by default in PFL cars. I think I am gonna start adding the tweak by default for all the people who come visit.

Apologies EmmaJ, seems we activated everything possible bar this one when you popped over :(

To be honest, while it is a bit 20th century to have to change it manually, at least you don't have to actually change the time on the clock, just tick/untick the box.
Not worth getting the mod done unless there are other things to do.

I think the biggest issue is that the way the manual is written suggests it should be automatic and folks think they are missing something.

I'd rather we just got rid of the whole BST nonsense. The hours of my life wasted moving clocks backwards & forwards twice a year ***!.

When I collected my new A3 at the beginning of March the sales guy went in to the MMI system and changed the clock setting to Automatic. This meant that when I when to Germany a few days after collecting the car the clock changed automatically to European time and it also automatically changed to BST on Sunday. The time display in the DIS has a small 'satellite receiver' symbol in front of the time display.

Mine changed automatically :)... only realised this afternoon haha

I've got pfl and mine changed automatically

My Facelift changed automatically of course, but I never found it such a bother to tick a box every 6 months... it's more annoying in that the technology should really have been in there from the start. Same as gapless MP3 playback - still amazed they haven't fixed that, even in the FL (though the gap is less at least).

Mine's an hour slow. Again. Doesn't matter what setting I have it on it never changes by itself.

VW Golf - worked fine.

SEAT Leon - worked fine.

Audi A3 - never works!

So I changed the setting to automatic in 5F and set the time to gps from manual and it's an hour slow again.
Also the summertime setting is gone from the menu so I can't alter the time forward 1 hour
It's not a biggie, but if other people have it, I want it lol:sob:

Leave and the next time you could to your car and start it up it should be fine. Had this last year and left it and it was fine the next time I drove

That's the thing, it was fine yesterday when I changed it and then today it's back to 1 hr slow?

I checked mine today finally and it was set to GPS and manual BST off. This is how I would expect the automatic changeover to automatically change over. But it didn't. It did automatically change over when I changed manual BST to on.

So the question is now; do I leave it set to on for it to all work properly in October, or am I gonna be disappointed yet again?

Manually changing is me having to set the clock, is it not? Anyway it went forward an hour when I set the manual change to on. In my opinion the manual change should be set to off for it to happen automatically, but it does not. It is a crappy, unintuitive set up that requires a rethink software-wise...

It's confusing - think about it this way - for my PFL car there was no AUTOMATIC time change - it was all manually initiated (manual off does not mean automatic on).

So for 'manual BST on' - you manually select it and the hour goes forward. For 'manual BST off' you manually select it and the hour goes back. It's all manual - the clock does not change automatically! Unless you modify it by VCDS...
