Hi all,

Hope some one can help me in any way. Tonight when parked up went to start the car with the window down. Once it fired up I noticed that when the clutch is fully pushed it starts making a little tapping squeaky noise which matches the engine speed. Doesn't seem to do it when it is half way down.

No issues with driving it but it's sounding like the clutch or bearing is on the way out? Anyone had this before? If it's new clutch time I will be looking to get rid. It has done around 98k and no paper work from previous that it has been changed before.

Any suggestions? Can post vid if need be tomorrow.

Thanks

sounds like a bearing to me.

I don't understand why you would get rid if it rides nice.
just buy a clutch for 500,
worth going to a garage tho could be something minor.

If its the Double mass flywheel it will make a noise when you hold it halfway down - happened to me on my 1.6tdi a3 Before.

Think its just a simple bearing!

Sorry guys, didn't get notified that I have responses. I was thinking it was bearing. It hasn't got any worse since then (around 4k miles). Exactly the same issue, just clicks and matches revs when fully down. If I put it 1/2 3/4 down it doesn't make any noise.

The new Golf GTI is out this month????

Just don't want to spend 2k on a car which is over 100k miles. Will take it to the VAG specialist in town to see what he thinks.

Will post video tomorrow.
