Long story short, I went to my dealer's parts counter to order OEM resonator delete kit below to have it installed before my delivery (2 weeks from now).

Capture

Clerk came back saying that '17 FL S3 is not listed under fit section of that part and I might not able to get it installed through them. I know for a fact that a number of 17 FL owners got it installed through their dealers.

Anyways, I still think it's possible and will wait to speak with hopefully more another more knowledgeable Parts Manager. I know I can get it installed through another tuning shop but would like to have OEM part to be installed before I take delivery during PDI.

I isn't a UK legislated part, it is for the US market only which is why you can only buy it online in dollars.
I asked my parts department, he saw it as an American part and therefore wasn't suitable for my UK car.
He said even if I sourced it, he wouldn't be able to get it fitted because it isn't a part they are allowed to recognise.

His exact words were "If I were you, I'd save your money and take it to a back street exhaust shop and get it done there for the same work". I questioned warranty, he said it is ultimately only a silencer to make the car raspier, if it was the cat then it could be connected to engine problems but a silencer is safe. I paid £120 to have mine done, so glad I didn't spend £200 on the Audi part plus fitting!

I would be very surprised if the people you know had it done at Audi, Audi UK centres are categorically not allowed to source this part as it would be illegal for them to sell it, let alone fit it!!
It's the same with all other Audi parts, they will not supply you with parts off of another car or another VIN number, all the parts have to fit your car for them to be able to sell them. The genuine kit is for US cars, therefore not listed as a part usable on ours so they can't offer them.

I'm from Canada and the part is listed in Audi Canada catalog. If you look at my picture from initial post you can see that 17 S3 is not listed although '17 A3 is there.

Worst case scenario the part will be installed at independent dealer but I'm almost positive dealer will come through.

Then I would have thought you should get it? Unless the Canadian market is different (not sure how it works out there).

I'm not sure what your basing the above statement on, but it's incorrect.

I can and have walked into multiple different dealers, in different parts of the country, and ordered parts for my S7 using VIN or registration numbers from different vehicles, in fact I have been asked by many parts departments over the years to bring them a registration number or VIN of a vehicle that has the part l want.

Ordering parts from a different market (USA Part for example) for fitting to your car may be a different matter, but there is nothing to stop you ordering online and have it shipped direct to you. :racer:

As above, you can order and collect any part audi sell, as long as you show them the money.

We have had this quoted to us before, they can only sell parts for our own vehicle and funnily enough I overheard a conversation at a different centre a few days ago who said the same. I think it's only a recent thing, they can't sell other parts because they can't guarantee they are suitable.

Yes you can order the US part online, but Audi wouldn't be able to fit it still so it would defeat the object of buying the original part to try and guarantee any warranty.
