Audi S3 vs Porsche Cayman GTS drag race!

So I had an opportunity to have a little play with a Porsche Cayman GTS on a runway. S3 certainly done it's thing off the line but the power of the Cayman certainly came in to play!

335bhp with 4.9sec or 4.8sec 0-60, depending on the type of box

I would not have expected a stock S3 to do as well as it did to be honest!

It is yes, the launch control really does help get you off the line perfectly everytime!

And I was very impressed with how well it did considering the paper figures for both cars!

Facelift S3's come with factory launch. Just need a remap now to keep up at higher speeds.

Yes exactly this, launch as standard but yes I do want to go stage two desperately! I think id have been able to hold him off altogether at stage 2!

Yes it should do! If you come to stand still, turn esp off, put it in to sport, hold brake down then apply te throttle at the same time. It should rev up to approx 3k, when you are ready lift your foot off the brake and smile!

Video of my friends WRX against the same Cayman, very similar outcome to the S3 which is expected given they are very similar power with the wrx having the ppp exhaust and ecu.

I have the Phantom 4 drone, unfortunately not mastered the automated modes yet and didnt trust anyone else to fly it for my run!!

Question.

I got it to launch no problem. Do i leave it to change gear in S mode? I only ask because once launched. I changed up using the paddle into second. And then it changed into third pretty much straight away. It wasnt me doing it to quickly as it did this twice

Yes leave the car to change gear in S. i think you may also be able to do it in manual but by standard the car automatically changes up if you miss the shift in manual anyway so leaving it to the car avoids the double upshift! I have had that a couple of times in the past!

Haha I've lost count how many times I've done it now. I have read in standard form it's pretty tolerant but I guess we'll see!

If you go into manual the car won't change up for you however it's easy to miss that first shift as it gets to 6k ish revs very quickly! I'd also use S mode if launching.

Yeah i tried it again last night with no problems. First time i did it was in s mode but i changed gear so it went into manual mode and upshifted again on its own

Very impressed with that considering its standard. I done a Pistonheads run last year up in the welsh mountains had a GTS following me for the majority of it. Not to boast in anyway but I was over the moon with my car at stage 1 as it could not keep up with me coming out of corners and along the straights. S3's really are very impressive! I filmed the whole day on my GoPro I really should get around to editing the footage.

Yeah I am so impressed with it, really great all rounder! Took mine for a run in the brecon beacons a little while back and I can quite believe it and yes get the footage edited!!
