Just updated to beta v3.4 last night, apparently there are more updates to the customisation on the B8 model, so will have a look tonight to see what else is available to us.

How did you get beta v3.4?

@ianv5 i just checked on the play store to see if there was an update and there was, did the update and it now shows as v3.4 beta 4.

I have just been out to the car for a play and I didn't really notice anymore changes.

Ok bit if a school boy error, ordered the Carista OBD adaptor on the 1st Jan and forgot about it, turned up today! I I subsequently order a new B9 on Saturday!
I'm guessing I can't do much on the B9 with Carista!?

From the supported vehicles list on Carista site

  • A4/S4/RS4 (B8) 2009-2015 advanced diagnostics, customizations, service indicator reset, EPB, launch control count
  • A4/S4/RS4 (B9) 2016+ advanced diagnostics
So looks like there is no customisation options for the B9 YET

Just a quick 2 questions.

1st one is that I have the passenger side mirror to lower towards kerb when reversing can this be done on both mirrors? Can't see option for both.

2nd is the diagnostics check shows a few errors like fuel cap lock, Driver door lock and a couple of others. I recently changed the whole lock on the drivers door and the fuel cap lock works fine as far as I can tell. Is it a matter of just resetting these or will I get them checked out? As I said everything seems to be working as it should atm.

Thanks for your help.

Can't do other door mirror
And reset all faults it's maybe just stored from when you changed the locks
If it comes back on a rescan you have a problem

Ok finally got some time to play, plugged it in and boom...fault detected!? CAN network gateway - had to active my months free trial to see the details, 00466 control module for steering column electrics (J527)

Just doing a full ecu scan now and googling the error, anyone else get this or know what the problem could be?

Haven't changed owt yet as just wanted a dry run to familiarise myself with the options

Clear faults first and then rescan as fault may be from previous work

Thanks, stupid question, but how do I clear them? (Sorry not used it before)

Also just noticed on the full scan report that lots of elements are listed as 'failed to connect' could this be due to the fact I turned off the heating, light, mmi?
Assume I should leave it all on....oh and the engines needs to be running right?

No, leave the engine off, just ignition lights on dash on, then scan.
As for failed to connect readings, that's OK, it just means your car has not got these components fitted,. If that makes sense. Nothing to be concerned about really unless a fault

I like grabbing and printing off a copy of any logged faults before trying to clear them, as evidence! I think that some "low level" faults (in VW group's world) do get cleared by themselves - had that on wife's new Polo! I've just discovered that I'm up to V3.4 - discovered that while resetting late 2009 Ibiza service warning that VCDS just did not seem to do after I serviced that car last month!

Good advice thanks - so how do I clear faults with carista?

Cheers

Hum, I'll leave that for someone else to answer as I'm still not trusting Carista enough, so always run a scan using VCDS on the cars after running a scan using Carista - so always use VCDS to clear any logged faults, really doing this mainly on an August 2015 VW Polo as sometimes while Carista does correctly find the fault codes, the correct description has not yet been written into Carista, things will improve with time I'd expect.

If a fault comes up there is an option below says reset OBD or something similar click ot and fault will be gone

Tried a WiFi Pumpkin ELM327 but only seems to get to 25% on the fault scan and doesn't go past 0% on the customise option.

Looks like I'll have to get the official Carista one

@Nick750 There are other ones that you can get off Amazon for about a tenner.

I didn't really want to buy another incase it didn't work. Carista should be here today so hopefully that works

Bought the official adapter. Installed the app. Bluetooth is on, car ignition is on. I can see a red light on the adapter but the app can't find it. I tried both my phone (Moto G3) and my Nexus 7 tablet. No luck. Am I doing something dense anyone can see? Both phone and tablet are Android.

@scotty76 , It could be a faulty adaptor, I would get in touch with carista and see if they can resolve the issue for you.

Alternatively see if you can try it on someone elses car to see if your obd port is not having issues.

Thanks. Emailed support. Waiting for the wife to get home to try another car! :)

Silly question, but you did pair it with your device?
Thanks for the suggestion. It's not even visible to either device (phone or tablet) which is what makes me suspicious it isn't working. Also from the Carista help...

  • Carista OBD2 Adapter: Just plug the adapter into your car and start using the app. There’s no prior setup, pairing, or connecting necessary. Just make sure your phone/tablet’s Bluetooth is turned on. On iOS, the Carista app will ask you what kind of adapter you’re using: select “Carista adapter”.

Tried it on the wife's car. Same result. Gotta be faulty. Going to get Amazon to swap it.

Fair enough, at least you will get it sorted, as they are pretty good with exchanging etc.

Why did I not know about this app before :weary: just ordered the official Carista adapter from Amazon. I'm going to look at a car on Saturday too so this will be very handy if it arrives on time!

Just removed the rear lights as DRL's as the clocks have moved
& added the memory function to the stop/start switch with the Carista app to my S4

I enabled my A4 B8.5 to access ambient light control with my 3g unit. so i'd presume you should be able to.

I know this has been asked many times before, so I do apologise. Can you recommend an adaptor that I can use on my Audi B8 2011 for using Carista on a iPad Air2? Bought a few in the past but none of them seemed to work.

Well there's any number of different ones mentioned in previous posts on this thread, but if you're having trouble finding one that definitely works for you, why not play safe and get Carista's own dongle?
