hi all. So after fitting eibach springs to my sline shocks i was happy with stance. Ive since bottomed out getting onto a driveway. Im not exploring idea of going coilies. What have people got amd recommend? Ive had ap before from vemon motorsport and previously had spax setups. Thanks for input!!

I think you'll find the very same problem chap, if you like the stance you have now with a normal damper/ spring based setup but are trying to avoid grounding the underside of the car , going to coilovers will help solve that specific issue as you can set the front and rear higher or lower as desired, but, if you wish to keep the look of your car as it is now then coilovers wont help as you'll be winding them up to get the same rise height as you had with the previous setup, so your just going around the houses and ending up at the same place you started, you'll have better dampers etc though, but unless you set the car higher nothing will have changed and you'll still be grounding or similar.

did you have the problems before you lowered it, and was your s-line to start with.

The Vogtland or the ST by KW would both be good options within your budget.

If you confirm your vehicle details I can get a price for you.

Seen the ap coilies on your site at £477 delivered. Is there any member based discount applied? Thanks

Recently fitted AP coilovers from dpm and I can't praise the ride quality, handling, price or service from dpm enough.

how do you find the ride adjustment , is it easyto adjust or a bit more indepth.

The fronts have more than enough adjustment for everything apart from extreme lowering. I currently have mine set to a very modest setting with probably 2/3rd more thread on the front coils.

They were very easy to setup when new and could easily be adjusted by hand. I would recommend, as I did, greasing the threads to help prevent seizures in future.

The rears are far more tricky to adjust in situ as the spring platform adjuster is tricky to get access to. I dropped lucky with mine and was happy with my initial setting.

Don't let the low price put you off because the build quality is very good. I know they are a "budget" option, but if you spend 99% of your time on the road and not the track, it's a no brainer for me. Even thou they are claimed to be 30% uprated in damping over the oem stuff, I can honestly say the ride is more comfortable than stock but road holding is greatly improved with body roll reduced.

thanks for the info, it is the rears that I am also concerned about the adjustments to be honest, still not made up my mind 100% on which ones to go with but based on your setup i'm leaning towards the AP now, I wasn't going to go the coilover route but as I want to get the front to rear ride height a bit more specific I think it is the way i'm going to go now.
cheers

The APs are one of the easiest sets you'll find, a different approach on the rears to most other brands. Hold the big nut (bit you'd usually turn) still with the supplied spanner and turn the other half of the adjuster with a hex drive bit in an extension/ratchet from underneath. It's pretty much the opposite of most other brands but works great, once jacked up you don't even need to remove the wheel.

I jumped on the AP coilovers bandwagon in Jan after so many praises.

will report back when they are finally on.

I have a b6 cabby quattro.

Ps. Thanks for info above all. Espeically the Guru..Ajax1976 himself :)

Just fitted my front coilies. Opted for ap in end after previously having them on my astra gsi.
Do like the look of them. Going to let the springs settle for a couple of weeks before playing about with ride height too much.

How hard were they to fit? You managed to do them without touching the pinch bolt?

I changed all links/pinch bolts when i fitted the eibach springs at beginning of march so nothing seized. Pretty easy to fit single handidly. Will sort some ride height pics when backs fitted ans springs settled. Will probs do rears on ramp at work

Top tip right there! Can't believe I didn't notice that.. Hopefully now there set, I won't have to mess with them again.
