So last year purchased a set of Brembos from a well known auctioning site and proceeded to purchase a kit to fit to my Audi Cab

Unfortunatly i used the same supplier as Rob, and its only Robs persistance that has pushed me to have a go again

The kit i recived had wrong discs, plastic spigots, bolts too short and the wrong pad sensor, after messing about trying to get it all to work and suffering with wheel wobble, crap brakes I decided to fit the old stuff and remove

I sold the brembos, new Mintex Pads, new Pins and brake lines on.

Meanwhile we were after a set of new brakes for the race car, a racing friend gave us a set of brembos (which we put on the shelf) as he had moved to AP and he got such a great deal I decided to purchase some AP's for the Audi

The season was about to start and I had a set of AP's sat to go on the audi, these quickly got donated to the track car and was fitted with a set of Bells and Rotors

AP

Fast forward to last week, after the track day (where the brakes where epic) i got back the Audi and headed home, travelling along a dual carriage way around the 70mph mark (ish), i had a lady in a KA pull across the carriageway. After standing on the middle pedal and braking from that speed to zero i realised the Audi Cab with a 3.0 lump in it is ****** heavy and really the single pots (compared to the race car was a poor comparison)

I decided to see what Brembos my friend had donated to the track car as i hadnt even opened the box
To my suprise i found these

Brembos

So yesterday i have orderd

Mtec 345MM ML55 Discs which will be turned out 1mm
Set of RS4 Lnes
Set of DS2500 Pads

And while this is for looks and stopping power i thought i would get some nice
H&R 10mm spacers

Should all be here the weekend ready to fit, ( i have an assignemnt this weekend so something to look forward to next week)

Thaks to Rob on here i am giving it another go, if i cant get it perfect you will see them for sale in the for sale section, should look good spaced out 10mm with some decent front brakes, current car running just 3mm spacers on a 235/35/19 ET43 8.5J. Will give me ET33

What you reckon?

your welcome, hope it works out better this time around....mine are spot on now, pads are a bit squeaky sometimes but no more than my old EBC pads when I had the oem calipers on.....best word to describe them when you need to stop a bit quick is "Epic" , well for me it is....
good luck with them.

rob

Glad you got yours sorted out Jase.....just one thing on the track AP's is that the anodising will soon wear off on the black ones. It happened on my old set. I then used gloss engine enamel on them but didn't mask the AP Racing out or roughed it up, once painted and cooled down the paint was removed with cotton buds.

bit of a AP fan myself carl & jase , never tried car versions but do have a set on one of my bikes, also epic braking , to be honest the AP's have the edge on my bike compared to brembo's, but only by a small margin....also depends on how brave the rider is....lol

nice work jase on the track car...

on the bike.

Ap4

that's a bit of a tool jase....

Ah another track god then like myself..lol, join the club jase..... I love my bikes.....but really have a soft spot for dukes...used to have 5 a few years back but sold some to fund a new business venture...still kept the best ones though...

Track car is really getting there

The race bike is 150KG, runs a ported head with 650 engine, remapped. Only 135bhp

Has lightweight sprockets and chain, geared lower,
Goes very well, fitted lap timer and digit dash last year

Really fancy a 848 or 1198.
Think they are stunning, just Audi and race car swallowing funds

My 1996 955 race bike is 160kg with 157bhp , not a lot by todays standards but it is a real rocket and will take bigger and more powerfull bikes without any problem.....its all the carbon on it .

Epic, I am in love and having a moment here

Jase , now sit down , i'm going to talk carbon, magnesium and titanium here....lol, and just because it's Thursday....lol
My old 955 has a mag swing arm, mag wheels mag engine cases, mag fork yokes, titanium bolts and shaft all over the place, factory race ohlins forks and rear shock , carbon tank, fairings, air filter box and covers, oil catch tank seat unit front fender, magnet marelli digital dash AP calipers and floating discs, and more aircraft alloy bits than I can shake a stick at.....oh and a thumping factory V-twin that shakes the ground .. through carbon termi's
all on a bike that is 20 years old, all that spec is factory except the AP's.....years ahead of the competion.

yep, I love my old bikes....

Would love to see more pics of that machine!!

Are 955s not uber rare?

My love of italian bikes was lost after a testing few years with a Laverda

lol mines the opposite Rob a stripped down streetfighter fireblade rrv (97), 9000 miles on the clock, dyno jetted blah blah, you really do have to fight it but is like a stunt bike so its ultra cool in my book lol

super uber rare chap, very few still around in original factory spec or close as, i'll upload some...if your interested.

I was allways a Japanese bike owner rider for years, then fancied a change , so jumped straight in with a duke Mk1 superlight 900 , ex baines modified bike .
the love affair with dukes was set in stone from that point, a lot of people hate them but until you have owned one and ridden one properly one just doesn't know what they are missing....
to date I've had 13 dukes all race orientated , also had a brief affair with an 888sps....also a very desirable piece of kit, sadly long gone, but not forgotten...
anyway i'm yaking on too much about bikes on a car forum....but a change is allways a good thing.
