Facelift Top 5 Things You Love About Your S3

Boooo! I am excluded as I have an A3, not an S3.

Is it time for a different forum?

Just start the exact same thread, but about A3s instead. The A3 is obviously a completely different vehicle from the S3, so make sure you remember to tell the S3 owners to sod off elsewhere! :p

Had the sad task of parting with my MK5 R32 today that I've owned for nearly 9 years in preparation for collecting the S3.

1. How quickly the engine winds up and keeps building power near to the top end
2. The interior quality and lighting
3. How quickly it can switch from relaxed driving to b-road monster
4. The blip from the exhaust when you pull the paddle for the next gear at full chat
5. How well proportioned the design is, especially with 19" wheels

5) The fact it is refined but it is actually quite a beast. That makes me grin.

Here's my made up list because I don't have an S3.

1. I only get half as many miles out of a tank of fuel compared to any other A3.

2. I don't have front foglights because it's more sporty innit.

3. I have one tailpipe for every cylinder and that is not ridiculous in the slightest I'll have you know.

4. It looks nothing like an S Line with more exhausts and less lights. Doesn't it?

5. It is better to drive than a Golf R. It ****** is alright! No, I'm not listening to you any more...

  1. quattro. Accelerative grip awesome. Also, compared to previous Haldex I've had (Gen1, and Gen1-PreX) feels to be pushing from the rear while cornering in quattro "dynamic" mode.
  2. Bodyshell. Surprised how useful the Saloon boot is, and overall looks great too.
  3. Motorway tech. Suits the Q-car nature to be an excellent motorway cruiser, with ACC (awesome), easy-to-read distance visualisation gadgetry (VC), lane assist, blindspot warnings... Not a replacement for your brain, but just makes you feel fresh at the end of a journey.
  4. Adaptive dampers. Great breadth of ability. Can change the feel and mood of the car just by pushing a switch.
  5. Engineer nerd-ness. Wow, they've thought hard about all this stuff. It Just Works. Then you start thinking about the detailed decisions that have gone into making it look effortless... Respect to the engineers.
