Definately also brings a bit of character to the car and also keeps the red/black theme going.

Started on the rear diff carrier today and also the cam cover need go get more laquer as ive ran out lol

Got the rear diff crossmember finished and apikol bushes cleaned up, greased and refitted and got the cam cover finished off today took the paint off the earth ground and also were the coils bolt down pretty happy with how everythings turned out.

Its an old style aeb one ive also shaved some not needed bits that hang off to tidy it up a little.

Heres a normal one compared against mine

Got the bushes removed from the subframes just need to remove the clips for the brake lines off the rear subframe but need to take a pic so i now which ones go where and what orientation there in. Also got the crash bar removed from the bumper started to trim the number plate area up but need more cutting discs lol and trimmed some bits that were visible through the side grills.

Bushes cam out fairly easy once the top lipped part of the bushes were removed just a quick hit with a hammer and they were out.

And the bumper removed from crash bar and tidied up the number plate area and centre grill bar ends ready to fill them in.

Got the crash bar modded this morning. Thinking of adding some reinforcement to the centre bar as its a little flexible.

Found my rear turrets to be a bit corroded on the rear face its not structural as its only 1mm thick and only spot welded to the turret itself.

Set about removing the pieces with a air chisel which quickly removed them leaving just the spot welds and bottom weld, so i then ground down the spot welds and cleaned up the bottom weld ready for some 2mm thick sheet metal after they have been shotblasted then going to look at getting them galvanised as aragorn suggested weld them up and then powdercoated.

Also got the rear top arm outer bush replaced and one inner on the other side got to get one of the bushes out the rear upright as that needs replacing from when i fitted it and had the socket the wrong way round so it pressed the metal in to the socket was fine but needs doing (OCD) lol
 
Happy new year guys

Progress is still real slow but now xmas etc is out the way i need to crack on and ive decided on keeping the S4 B6 brakes and boleros as i didnt really want to ditch them for aftermarket wheels, the boleros are off to get shot blasted next week along with subframes and rear turrets all for £30 off a mates work colleague. Then im going to go for oem looking boleros and get the diamond lip recut but maybe a tad darker on the spokes, i hate diamond cut rims due to the fact they tend to corroded very easily so im going to try see how they go.

I was originally going to just refurb them myself as i started to strip them back with nitromors but i got them back to pretty much original and they have grown on me and you dont see many off our cars sporting oem looking boleros these days.

Personally don't like dark wheels on black car. Shiny silver / fully polished ftw

A darker silver should be good. I borrowed a set of full silver ones a few years ago and I quite liked how the car looked with them on.

I could not be bothered with the diamond cut lips around here though as they will go milky pretty quickly without loads of looking after.
 
Do NOT go down the polished/diamond cut route.Its a complete waste of time, the companies that do it know that and wont even warranty their work.

Personally i dislike silver wheels, and favour darker shades. Never black though. The wheels on the BMW were done in Bronze which looks great against the black. For some reason i have NO photos of it on those wheels though :(
 
I found on over 300hp it slipped quite easily. TTV and rs4 kit would be my choice, well was after spending £200+ on the v8/SMFW
 
Got one in mine, great service and so far seems to work well.

Only downside is a heavy pedal which my other half hates which is a sod as it may mean we take the TT to the Nurburgring later this year.

No I have had it for 13 years next month and never advertised it for sale. Did think about selling to a friend about 5 years ago but changed my mind.
 
Hmm must of been a dodgy add as im 99% positive that was the reg on the car i looked at and i wondered why he wouldnt answer the phone the day i was meant to come and look at it
 
Got the bits back off my mate today who had them shot blasted for me, going to weld the back plates on in work maybe this week or next then see about getting them galvanised and powder coated.

Can i just stress that im really looking to get items collected in person( no couriers) i can do it on some of the smaller stuff as and when i get to the car as im not at the property anymore and she doesnt want me seeing the kids just yet, so collection would have to be arrange with myself way in advance so i can arrange with her when suits i may even be able to borrow a van to grab some of the larger stuff and take it to my work for you to collect
 
@Oranoco Cheers mate il be alright once i find my feet again then might do something with the S3 or look at a B5 again.
