Are these seats heated?

Hello, a 8PA owner here on 8V forum. I have a question specifically to 8V owners. I'm looking for 8V leather seats for my 8PA and a guy at German ebay has a good offer. However, he doesn't know exactly if his seats are heated or not. He thinks they are. He shows me a picture of all the plugs and there are the green ones that should be the heating harness.

My question is: can a seat have the heating harness without a heating pad installed? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

I have never seen seats wired up if the heating pad is not there. In general Audi never wires anything extra up.
That makes sense. I just want to be sure before spending money.

There's another offer at the UK ebay (8PA leather/alcantara), but no heating and RHD car. The question is how it's easy/hard to move a seat occupancy sensor from the right to the left seat and if it's possible to move heating elements from my SE seats to the sport seats (if they ever fit).

German seats also have occupancy sensor on other side, remember this as its detrimental to seat belt warning if you can't code it out on the airbag module.

Yes, I know it. Actually, the German seats have occupancy sensors on the "right side" for me as I live in Denmark and drive a LHD car. It's UK seats that I'd have to modify if I wanted to fit them in my car. But I'm interested in both, UK and German. Each of them have pros and cons and I'm trying to find the best solution.

Pros for German seats:
- no need to move an occupancy sensor from right to left seat
- no need to move a door handle, buttons and harnesses from right to left door
Cons for German seats:
- Germans remove all safety parts such as airbags and safety belts. I wouldn't be surprised if didn't find an occupancy sensor too
- German seats are expensive, often twice a price of UK seats

Pros for UK seats
- all safety parts remain installed
- more offers
- lower prices
Cons for UK seats
- some hassle to moving sensors and wires from right to left seat and door card

Big poop for all sellers, no matter are they UK or Germany based: they don't want to ship to Denmark.

@FredrikA3, tak for linket :) I visited your website yesterday and was browsing Allegro this morning. Found a MFFBSW there for a reasonable price, but have to research if it's with or without airbag or this is just an airbag only. They aren't clear there. However, I didn't see any 8PA leather interiors yet. Perhaps you were lucky, it happens with people :)

I ended up buying my seats from Poland. Much better pricing mate.

Documented it here: http://www.lightnings.dk/kabine_en.html
I want to thank you for the link again, Fredrik. I found two sets of the seats in good condition there. Their aren't as inexpensive as you bought but a half of German and less than half of Danish price anyway (and I look at the most expensive Polish sets). Also, there are a lot of side/seat airbags for sale there (absence of airbags kept me off buying seats from Germany).

Your welcome :) The airbags and pricing was the reason of why I purchased from Poland.

When searching for seats, search "audi a3 8p fotele". That should give you a few good options. When contacting sellers, I did an english text and a polish google translated text as some of them don't speak english.

Hej Fredrik. I searched "audi a3 8p fotele" which gave me a few good results. Then I did a broader search ("audi s-line", "fotele audi", "s3 fotele", etc) and it gave me a lot more options. I sent plenty of enquiries with Polish/English texts, but only two replied so far. Both have leather/alcantara, but only one offers seats with door cards (door cards are without any buttons though). The second seller has better seats (dotted alcantara which I like more and a s-line imprint), but I was unable to find door cards that would match. There is a third one that sell awesome RS3 full leather interior with white stitching and electric powered seats, but the seats are without the airbags and they don't send anywhere, collection only.

Sounds good that you found some results. I didn't have that many issues with sellers not responding, maybe a few. Sometimes they can be a bit slow, so just give them a bit of time.

Most of the ones I spoke to did not have any issues with shipping to Denmark, so you might have been unlucky.

All my first messages were very simple and only contained the following text:

Cześć,

Chciałbym zapytać, czy można wysyłać do Danii?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

I would like to ask if you will ship to Denmark?

Thank you Fredrik :) I sent your text to the RS3 interior seller who stated collection only. He quoted me the shipping price of ca. €200. I like his seats more than others, but the price is higher than average and the seats need airbags and extra wiring to power them. With delivery it would be ca. DKK 10.000 which is fine for full leather RS3 interior, but much higher than DKK 6.000 for leather/alcantara.

I'm thinking... My wife liked leather/alcantara seats, but then she saw the RS3 ones ;)

Your welcome :grinning:

The RS3 seats are so great looking. I just had standard seats before and was actually looking for leather/fabric but I couldn't find any in Poland so I went for leather/alcantara which actually looked really good.

10.000 DKK is a lot of money, but I could only find leather/alcantara in Denmark for 13.000 DKK, so this is still cheaper. Give the seller a good offer including shipping!

Do you like leather/fabric seats more than leather/alcantara? I was also looking for leather/fabric because I thought that alcantata was too sticky. But then I test-drove an A3 with the same seats as yours and didn't find them that bad :)

I agree, 10.000 DKK is a lot of money. I saw that company that sells the leather/alcantara seats for 13.000 DKK incl. installation. It was cheaper to buy on ebay, but with the shipping price of €200-250 the price went easily up to 10.000 DKK anyway. I gave up to searching for the cheaper option and agreed with the market price. I was ready to pay ca. 10.000 DKK before you told about Allegro. Now 10.000 DKK sims too much. But again, the RS3 seats should be more expensive than just sports or s-line.

I actually do prefer leather/fabric. I however think that pictures makes alcantara looks worse than it really is.

As you say, 10.000 DKK is not bad at all for RS3 seats. For the same price you will get sports or s-line seats in Germany. I would still give them an offer to see if you can save a bit.

I'm working toward it ;) I just learned that they don't have a leather armrest or an armrest lid. I also learned that they bought these seats in Germany, that's why the airbags are removed.

Where from did you get your RS3 style leather bits with white stitching? Bought or custom made?

The lid you link to is for a 8V. Does it fit a 8P armrest? I'd love to have one like this.

As to RS3 leather bits, a set was offered here in a classified section not long ago for £500.

I know, it is still a lot of money.

I actually got some examples from that guy and it did look pretty decent. Not the same as the nappa leather quality. If you are on vagcars, I just put in a few free things. You can have my door arm rests and knee-pads for free, so you can test on them?

Thanks for the offer. I'm not on vagcars, but I can register if it is necessary. Why are you giving those parts for free? Also, to test them, you have to glue them to the armrests and knee pads, right? I'd love to put my hands on them and see if I could make a template and then find a piece of nappa or similar look leather to make custom bits.

I have sold my A3 8P so I am just giving away all my standard spareparts. You don't need a profile on vagcars.dk (I was just thinking some other things might had your interest). It is under "Salg - Reservedele".

I'll just shoot you a pm.

I've been to vagcars today. It worth having an account there, so I'm going to register one :)
