After only 3 days of ownership I have hit head on one of the angst items running through threads on this site, the appalling noises that can be generated by tyres.
I know from pouring over those threads that the probable cause is the Continental tyres. I know that Audi probably regard the S3 as a 'sports' car and hence the user will put up with some noise but the droning is ridiculous on all but the smoothest surfaces. There is also a 'thump' whenever going over even smallish holes in the road.
Am I correct in assuming that the latter could also be a tyre issue?
I have 45 profile Goodyear F1 Async 3 on my Calibra Turbo and they run without noticeable road noise. Seems a hell of a waste dumping 4/5mm tyres but is there a good chance that I am going to get rid of most, if not all given the 35 profile, by changing to that tyre?
