Just a question am going to pick up a 14 plate a3 and when you press the sat nav switch it says sat nav unavailable or disabled, what would need to be done to turn it into a functional sat nav?
You need the SD card and activation by an Audi dealer.
Will cost upto £500.
Search on this forum will find lots of info about this.
NB - cards for sale on Ebay for £50 won't work - they need activation.
I think that's pretty much par for the course. Some have got special deals, but unless you use sat nav a lot it's probably better to just use a normal plug in one.
Family is based in Taunton so I had this same question July last year when I got my A3. Think Taunton Audi quoted me £495. Didn't do it as the tomtom app on my iPhone is £30ish for 3yrs so not worth the investment. I would love to have satnav but at the price Audi want it's not worth it. Might be worth asking them for 2016 maps and see if they do a discount as 2017 is out soon?
I actually went in to Audi Italy here in Bologna a few days ago and they quoted me €720!!! That's over £150 more than UK! I told him it's an obsolete system etc but he wasn't budging!!
For that to happen, you will need various cables and adaptors and gets messy with its in your arm rest box. It's technically mirror casting I believe but granted its a cheaper option than spending £500 for it to be unlocked but some dealerships can do this for £350-£400 if you shop around. It will be a cleaner solution and leave space for other bits and bobs in the arm rest.
