Hi all,

I recently purchased Chemical guys Black light and V07 to seal it. I'm just wondering if I can use their Butter Wet Wax after applying the V07 or would it be a waste and non beneficial?

cheers

Blacklight is a glaze, so you want to apply that first. You can then apply butterwet wax over the top and then use V07 as a drying aid after every wash to get the protection topped up.

Probably need to reapply the wax every few months. Not sure how long blacklight will last...

Ahh thanks! I was under the impression that I had to apply the V07 after the blacklight and before the wax.

All I have to do now is wait for a nice day...

So this morning I got a phone call from Slim's detailing regarding the V07 I ordered. Apparently it was out of stock so they said they would send me some Gtechniq C2V3 liquid crystal instead (can't fault the guys over Slim's, very friendly and accommodating) I just wondering if it goes on the same as the V07 and if anyone has used it before, what's it like?

Not used it myself, but heard very good things.

One of the reasons I like V07 so much is how instantly it melts on the paint. Joy to use. No idea if C2V3 is as easy to work with.
It's generally designed to be used with their C1 ceramic coating, as it contains some of the active ingredients in it. At a guess, it will probably last longer and be more hydrophobic than V07.

Guess I'll have to do some research on it then. Hopefully it's just a spray on sealant like the V07. Maybe some one else on here has used it as just a spray on sealant.

@Radford212 - CG V07 is a more forgiving product than C2V3 IMHO

C2V3 is a great product. A much more durable sealent than V07
Spray on a panel at a time. Work in a circular motion to cover the whole panel with a short pile MF. Then buff off with a plush buffing MF.
As with all products, don't over apply or you will get some smearing

The rule of the thumb, in my experience is always sealent under wax. But TBH you shouldn't need a wax over C2V3

My wife's old solid red Ford Ka with C2V3 applied -

Need to update my product collection come the spring/summer time. More Reload is a must but I may try the Gtechniq. Never used any of their stuff.

The C2V3 is a great product. Very versatile.
I now tend to use it on underbonnet details. Works a treat on plastics
Always a good product to have on 1's shelf ;) :D

When I used it on the wife's old red Ka I diluted some down at 3:1 with some ionised water in a spray bottle to use as a QD. Worked great
I believe this is what Gtechniq do for their own QD

So am I best off diluting it down or applying it neat? I've never used any of their stuff before. So in theory I shouldn't need to apply the CG wet wax over the top of the sealant?
Sorry if these questions seem a bit amateurish, I'm relatively new to the finishing aspects of detailing. Just trying to get as much info as possible so I can make an informed decision when it comes to this. Most I've ever done is clayed the car then applied purple haze afterwards.

@Radford212 - No need to dilute it down, unless you want a QD based product on it
Initially I would give your car 2 coats of C2V3 an hour apart

Personally I think it would be a waste of the CG wet wax and your time to apply it over the C2V3

Cheers, thanks for the advice. Much appreciated  Now all I have to do is find a day where it doesn't rain... easier said than done at the moment

@Radford212 I loved Purple Haze when I had my old black car. Smells great. But with the type of sealants that are being spoken about, you'll not need the wax on top. You still can if you want but not essential.

@Radford212 - No probs

& don't forget to show us your results once you've finished :thumbs up:

So after finally getting a decent day of weather, I decided that there was no better time to try out all my new stuff and the advice I'd got from other's on here.

I started off with my wheels and covered them in CarPro Iron X (obligatory picture needed)
Wheel

Now I'm fully aware that many of you will all of seen pictures like this before but I've never used this before. So I took the picture just because

Snow foamed the car using my new Autobrite lance and Magifoam that came with it (gotta love Amazon and their offers sometimes)
Snow2

Next up was the usual 2 bucket method with Chemical Guys Citrus wash & gloss, followed by coating the car in Iron X before claying the entire car.
Once that was done I used my DA polisher with a green fin Dodo juice polishing pad and Chemical Guys VSS which removed 85 to 90% of the swirls and scratches from previous bad washes and the occasional car wash.. :fearful:

Once that was done it was time to for me to cover the car in Chemical guys Blacklight. This stuff IMO is fantastic, went on so easy with a MF applicator pad and once it had cured it was so easy to buff off. Will definitely be using this again when needed. I then coated the car with the Gtechniq C2V3 Liquid Crystal I received from Slims Detailing instead of the V07 I initially ordered. I reckon the car came up looking fantastic after following the instructions/methods other people have used (see posts above)

Rear

I will get some pictures of the entire car tomorrow but after taking nearly 6 hours to complete this, I thought it was time to take a break and also inform the wife that I was still alive!! Again thanks for your help in above posts people. It's much appreciated.

Thanks for all comments guys :grinning:

I do have one more question though. Now it's coated in the C2V3, how do I maintain it without washing it off? Do I just rinse it with a pressure washer then dilute some more C2V3 as a QD and just buff to a shine or wash with a PH neutral shampoo then use a QD?

That's exactly what I would do. Wash and then diluted C2V3 as a QD. I tend to spray these mixes on a wet car and then dry. This is what I'm doing with Gyeon at the moment with great results.

@Radford212 - C2V3 is quite durable in my experience
Wash your car as you normally would
If I were you, would add another coat of 'full' C2V3 every other wash. It does layer well

Do what suits you. You won't wash the C2V3 off, even if you SF
