Hi

Looking for some help updated my Sony xperia z5 premium to latest android 7.0 nougat and now mmi just displays external audio player (or similar) rather than the Song playing as it did before upgrading phone.

I also now cant skip tracks etc when streaming via Bluetooth and no display functions available

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks.

Picture's too blurry - is Bluetooth actually connected/does it play? And what media player are you using on the phone?

Picture looks OK when view it unless I done something wrong new here lol!

Yeah Bluetooth connects fine and using standard phone media player worked until I updated phone. Music's plays via few apps but display on shows "external audio player selected" where as before it brought name up and you could skip tracks etc same options as cd or sd basically.

Hmm. Not got Android 7 here yet. Try forgetting/removing the phone on the MMI, and also forgetting/removing the MMI on the phone. Then repair Bluetooth. Does that help?

Just download Android Auto and plug it in. Don't mess about with Bluetooth audio...

Not sure what Marty2017 has, but my MMI doesn't natively support Android Auto. So I use Android Auto on my phone only, and music is played to the car over Bluetooth anyway. Sure I can use Android Auto to change tracks etc (as can be done on the phone whatever media player you're using), but I still like to use the MMI to display track info and the knob in the car (no, that's not me!) and other controls to change tracks etc.

I couldn't work out if the Bluetooth symbol next to the time at the bottom was showing audio connected, but you answered it verbally anyway :)

I have a 2013 1.4 tfsi sline
I used to be able to use the knob to skip track sadly I can't now.

Ok, so I have a similar car. You can use Android Auto on the phone, but I don't think it will present the Android Auto interface on the MMI

If that fails, try again after resetting the MMI. There's also a (different) factory reset possible for the MMI (I can't recall the key sequences) but that one will require you to completely reconfigure everything you've previously set up in the MMI. A normal reset won't/shouldn't - it's more like a reboot.

It depends on if the Audi smartphone interface is present on your car - I guess look at MMI settings. If it is you can use Android Auto.

Mmi doesn't appear to support Android Auto looks like it's 2016 onwards

Did you sideload android 7 yourself or was it an ota update from your network provider / manufacturer?

Do you have any other Bluetooth audio devices - like a Bluetooth speaker or headphones with audio controls? Does the phone work as expected with that?

Yeah just tried them and they work ok must be android 7.0 causing the issue.

I would say if they work ok, the issue is not with Android 7 so much as the MMI. My next step would be to factory reset the MMI, if only because that's what Audi would probably do as a next step too anyway.

Anyone else got an Android 7 phone that works as expected on a 2013 vintage MMI?
