Before I end up buying yet another used cluster to upgrade my own, does anyone know much about component security?

Basically I have a cluster in my car that doesn't have the DIS screen and I bought one from eBay that does. Both dated 2005 and have the 93C86 eeprom and both have Fujitsu MCU. They don't have Micronas.

I got both pin codes using Carprog. Easy. When I log in to the new cluster in vcds (code accepted) and go to channel 50 to adapt vehicle data I get the message to say channel 50 not available. From further reasearch I think I have a IMMO4C cluster in which channel 50 adaptation is not possible using vcds.

Can anyone guide me on what to try or do next to match this to my car?

I've managed to transfer the component security over to the new cluster and got everything working, other than the ABS issue in my other thread.

Good job. How did you manage to get it transferred?

I used Carprog to do it. I didn't think it would work but I gave it a try and sure enough it worked no problem. I transferred all the info in fact. The keys were written at the same time so no messing around adapting them afterwards! As I said, the only thing giving me trouble is a problem on the ABS controller that only appears when the better cluster is fitted. I'm going to fit a MK60EC1 pump to see if that sorts it. Plus I get hill assist as a bonus.
