Hello all,

I did some searching and found some threads but most were related to A3 equipment. Does anyone know where to find or has wired in these S illuminated sills?
Illuminated door sill

Not sure if the S3 prestige comes with these but I believe they do not. Would make a nice touch to go with the BO surround illumination.

Thanks everyone. I just was uncertain with the website only saying: "Aluminum door sill inlays (with S emblem)" with no mention of illumination.

The aluminium door inlays are the strip in the door coming back from the inside door handle. They are illuminated if you take up the option. Otherwise not.

Illuminated DOOR SILLS are standard in Canada and not an option and I believe the same in the USA

Actually are we confusing two things jemichae? The light design inlays in the doors are an option ( I think we both specked them) and the sit high on the door card in line with the door handle. The pic shown above is of the door sill not the door card. Not sure about the status of the illuminated sills in Australia.

The handle lighting is standard in the facelift just like the centre dome light, the only additional lighting you get from the option is the door trims.

No, i think we are all good.
OP was about the illuminated sils (which are also standard in Oz)... but then moved on to the illuminated aluminium design inlays (what you are also taking about) as OP had said he was a tad confused... :)
I didn't spec the illuminated design inlays. Probably would have if there was a decent spec sheet with explanation of what they were, back when I placed my order.

Configurator still doesn't say much about them, I had no idea what it was!

Didn't realise the illuminated sills were standard here in Oz. I have to say it took me quite some time to ferret out what the light design inlays were. By that stage I was in the mood to tick every option box I think.

@Rob2k68 they're still sitting around.. I haven't find the best way to connect them yet, the logical place would be the entry lamp but they're on the door card side and go into the door module, pretty sure there would be a wire for the rear door entry lamp under the sill cover but I have no clue which...

The other option would be to the overhead entry lamp, still debating if I should look for the wire under the sill cover or just wire it to the overhead lamp... Any suggestion?

LoL I know you’ve been busy with the back end of the car.

Quite fancy this myself but first question is how to get from wet side of the car to dry side over the sill step and body mounted seal - could do with having a close look at a FL car really.

Wiring wise I wonder if there’s a tap at the base of the A post going into the door harness or if it’s easier looking for the door adjar trigger for the interior lights ? Probably the latter.

Hi

Just thought I'd chip-in on this one. I remember when I was first considering an S3 8V and did a number of configurations Pre-facelift. In the Audi configurator, under Audi Genuine Accessories, there was the option for illuminated door sills. Here is the info out of one of my saved configs:-

Z8V0071300A Door sills, illuminated, with the "S3" logo 187.00 GBP

Not sure what that "part code" means or translates too, but it might mean something to an Audi parts guy.

Half tempted to enquire myself, to restore some "S3" logo's to my FL!!

Cheers

AL

Here you go... http://www.uk.audi.com/uk/web/en/models/a3/s3.mediathek_infolayer.Z8V0071300A.html But this one is operated by battery and magnetic switch... The one I got is the FL "S" logo which does need to hook up to the wirings..

They look great - fire the part number into Google.

99.999% certain they’re for the 3dr hatch only though.

That's a shame they look good, and would have matched your mirror caps.

Edit: just checked, that number was out of a 3 door config. Sorry Rob.

Might drop them an email for a price
Got a response!

£250 plus fitting/shipping - they're wired into the footwell light circuit

Front two only as the rear doors / sills are too small

Tapping into the footwell circuit guess that means they’re on all the time with doors closed too - wonder if the OEM ones are the same ?

Yeah doesn't make sense (double checked what was written in the email).

Maybe he meant interior light circuit (as in the ceiling one), that makes more sense as it would then begin the pulse when you open the door and the lights come on.

This makes more sense. Why would you have then continuously on even with the door closed. I've watched loads of his work on his YouTube channel. The guy is quality!
