Hi,

my roller switch on the headlight switch that changes the lighting on the instrument cluster doesn't work.

It defaults quite dim. I've replaced the headlight switch however it's a loose cable somewhere that isn't very easy to access.

Is there a way to re-code using vag com the default light to be brighter?

Thanks

I took apart the lower dash and cluster out to see if I could trace cables. There was continuity between the switch cables and where they needed to go so must be the roller switch it's self.

The plug on the right is for the roller switch. 2 x right cables are your feed and ground. I linked together the other two and this made the lighting on climate control etc brighter.

Cannot find wiring diagram for the switch so hopefully this is ok as it is

Ah right

It looks like the blue wire from the dimmer plug has been cut into... is it a clean join to the other end?
I know that if I leave that plug undone the dashboard lights default to the dimmest.

That blue one is pigtailed from the headlight switch plug (very left) I guess for a power source. I have continuity through this on the pins of both plugs

Get a multi meter in there. Poke it in each terminal while you play with the adjuster to sus out which wire it is that controls the fading.... go from there.

If the whole switch is new maybe trace the wire back into the loom?

Yeah it's a nightmare under there I'll try that next.

At least it's bright now so can see the dials better. Thanks for your help :)
