Guys, is it possible to retrofit TPMS onto 2010 C6 2.0 Avant?

If so, is it difficult? What would be the cost?

I think that even if you only go for the version that uses the ABS sensors to monitor the rotation speed of each wheel, an additional module is required.

On the B6 Passats I think that this could be activated with VCDS, but sadly not on our A6s.

Even more involved if you go for the direct monitoring version as you would need new valves with sensors in too.

Valves I would imagine need it to be fitted and programmed.

Dont want those valve cover type which look tacky and uses your cigarette lighter.

Found one set that you hardwire to cars power, has it's own display and sensors fitted internally to the wheel.

Just wanted some advice if it's something that can be done off bcds and asditional module.
Look's like it is more to it so will probably resort in that after market one.
Just thinking of sensor battery life span and eventual replacement.

Just found some TPMS modules for A6's on eBay but there are few models of it.

Also, sensors are available in pre-coded version and couple of models.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what else is needed?
How to het it working? Where the module should he located? Is there any additional wiring needed?

Maybe I already have it but is disabled?
That would be nice.

You need the TPMS control unit, 4x receivers that are fitted in the wheel wells, then 4x sensors in the alloys. The parts will set you back around £300-£400 + you would need to make the wiring harness up, and you would need a tyre fitter to fit the new TMPS valves & have the wheels balanced again. You would then need VCDS to code the, can-gateway, MMI & instrument cluster. It's not a quick or easy retrofit. Also make sure all the the sensors & receives are 433MHz, as Audi also sell 322Mhz but that is for the US market

Do Audi use the indirect version of TPMS using the ABS sensors?
I know that on B6 Passats there are two versions, one using pressure sensors in the wheels and a more basic version using ABS.

If the ABS version is possible, it should be a cheaper & simpler route.

Thanx lads for your advice.

Thought it would be one receiver and 4 sensors.
Are there any wire harnesses ready made to plug-and-play? If so, where is it all connected to?
Seen Audi sensors on eBay for around £20-£30 each. Receivers were £30-£50.

Those bluetooth aftermarket ones you can get around £80. You fit the sensors in the wheels and hardwire seperate receiver with own display for more oem look.
Also available as a receiver with the cigarette lighter plug for simpler job.

Anyone had to do with them?

You have to make sure the sensor and receivers are compatible with each other, and the receivers are compatible with the A6 control module. Not seen any pre made harness for sale, so you would need to make your own harness and to do that your going to need to buy/download a copy of elsawin and for the correct parts that will work for the C6 you need to find a web site with an online version of etka.

Great (!) now it looks even more complicated.

Think it would be better if our site sponsor have a look at that.

Thanx B5nut for all input

Cheers for that, Simon.

Did just the same face expression as that emoji.

Bit hefty as for what is it for.
Bet ya it wasn't that expensive when chosen as an option on the new C6 back then.

Would love to tackle it myself but I doubt would be able to het all the proper gear without getting it fitted by them.
Price would've been not much different, I imagine.

Retrofit sponsor is no longer on this site so will need check over the net.

Edit: DUH! It is for the complete set of h/w. What about a s/w and coding?

I think I would investigate the indirect set up personally. No sensors to get broken. From what I have read, it is the method that was used on the facelift A6 anyway.

Yeah. I'm not going to get the kufatec set.
It's too expensive for me.

Retrofitting it out of seperate components like B5nut suggest is out of my capabilities either.

Either these aftermarket sensors are my only option or to forget about the whole thing.

People survived without them on the previous cars and in the past.
It's just more convenient nowadays.

The Kufatec set up has pressure sensors, I wouldn't go down that route either, that's why I suggested investigating the indirect measurement route which uses the ABS sensors and probably one additional module.

Yes, Simon. But you've mentioned that it isn't available on our C6 chassis. I'll speak to someone with vcds and investigate if it can be done from ABS + additional module.
Maybe dealership can advise?
Thanx mate

Now I gotcha! LOL.

In that case, there is hope for some readings of eventual faulty tyre or pressure loss so I will give it a go.

Have a great day, Simon

Great find Simon. Thanx a lot.

Will contact them to dig some more info.

No probs.
Please let me know how you get on.

There seems to be a few sellers for the wiring harness, but I didn't see anyone selling the module :worried:

Will do as seen few posts all over the audi forums with that question.

Probably module has to be second hand. Do you know roughly the location where it should be fitted and where to connect it to with that wiring harness?
