RS3 Pricing Announced

Where did what turn up? Insurance called me in december and said they would not wait any longer for RS3's to begin production again (car dissapeared in April) and I would have to take their cash offer, 42k minus excess, so about 41.5k, car cost me about 48.1k. Break in also cause her indoors to want to move so now 41k is lost in the huge debt that a new house entails. I knew this moment was coming but am still totally gutted

So it finaly materialized, about 2 months after my insurance people insisted I take their cash offer which was 6k short of what I paid for the car. Would almost make you think they had inside information or something !!

I know this os OT but when it comes to insurance valuations always ask how they're valuing it.

Most times I'm betting it will be glass' guide only, sometimes an ombudsman valuation using CAP, Parkers and Glass' will increase the offer. Majority of the ones I dealt with it increased the value, there was a few that either didn't or would have actually been lower.

Always the same mate. Timing sucks. What you driving now or did I miss that?

Thats why Gap ensurance is always worth the extra few hundred. Fills in the void and takes you back up to invoice.

No idea where those Euro figures come from.
In France a standard manual 3dr S3 is 50k euro so the RS3 will be 65k euro+ IMO.

The figures on the S3 back up that few people want a manual (I read somewhere 90% of S3s are DSG) so why would Audi spend the time and money on a manual RS3? Saying that, as a manual S3 owner I would be looking at an RS3 if there was a manual.

I agree completely, as the price of the face-lifted Golf R on VW's german site states € 42.675 for a 3 door DSG model. So therefore the Golf R will not be sold for £42k in the UK, as the list price for that is £33.280 which confirms this is true

You saying that, saw this one when I was at Autostadt last year :openmouth:

The dealers probably have less of a clue than us. No one really knows. My personal opinion/guess is that it won't be quite as expensive as some are saying, i.e. Not £45k+ starting prove.

I think you may well be right Doc. Probably be under £45k as a base price.

Lots of conjecture on here regarding the possible price for UK cars without the availability of any meaniful data on other cost contributing factors. We have no idea as to what options may now be included as standard or as part of special option packs (as Audi like to do), or how much dealer contribution is available for new cars (or Audi discount as some call it), or any special new Audi deals to soften the blow of the £1,200 quid road tax on top.

Whatever, the final number will be, the new model will definately end up being pretty expensive. Add some special paint and maybe the carbon ceramics (if they are offered this time) I wouldn't expect to see too many of them about on the roads. Nice and exclusive perhaps??

I see that the UK Audi site is showing the ARRIVAL date as being 'late 2017' which was the same recently for the saloon too. Plenty of time to save some cash then!

I hope its about the same price as the current one as its ridiculously expensive as it is. Look at the recent article in auto express and look at the prices.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ford/focus/94410/ford-focus-rs-vs-volkswagen-golf-r-vs-audi-rs3

Not sure why the Golf R is in there, its not comparable to the RS3 IMO, may as well put the S3 in there too. Yes the Focus RS is a great car, but Ford have nothing close to the S-Tronic box - that is a big seller for most. We all know there is "badge tax" being both Audi and a RS model, however even the article states the RS3 as "having easily the best cabin here and comes with most standard equipment". I'm not saying the high price is justified, but best in class cabin quality will always drive a higher price tag.

agree no one buys an audi because they are cheap and for me the other two don't compare. Also I know it's sounds silly but go to a vw or ford dealer and then an audi dealer and the gulf in quality is massive. In my anudi dealerudi dealer you walk in and get free tea coffee soft drinks. In vw you get rubbish machine coffee, same with gird but you have pay for it. My local ford dealer inn reading recently closed down says alot and far detached reviewers are. Anyone looking for standard non sporrs cars will go premium with a3 or merc a class or bmw 1 series. If people want good value they'll go to Korean makers or Japanese. Ford vauxhall and French makers then fight it out for the remainder. the only redeeming saviour for ford is the focus rs, fiesta st and focus st, maybe the mustang. The st versions sound like a sexual disease anyway. no wonder vauxhall have merged with peugeot Citroën.

These reviewers forget that you gave to live either these cars. I get in a golf r and it just feels any other golf. When I set in the focus rs I feel like an idiot at 49, idiot idiot was under 25 I'm sure I'd be fine

Maybe the RS1 assuming they build it for approx 50% less, defo makes the RS3 look expensive?

Glad someone posts some common sense on here...lol the car is 8 months away ones that worry about the price....should really take it off the there next car list, its a EASILY £45k car starting from....think about it logically same engine as the TTRS.....=£53K...Ergo...

Devils advocate Jassy, but the FL S3 only increased in price by about £1000 or so. So why would the RS3 jump by 5 times or more that amount?

The Audi Sport guy I was talking to last weekend seemed to think that the sales strategy for RS brands is now swaying towards making the RS cars a bit more exclusive - maybe this would explain the price? He did also say that any UK price is pure speculation until final specs are released.

More exclusive??? They already barely build any! I get what you're saying but the RS3 is already a £50k car with some sensible options. That's already a lot for a hatchback.

But it does have a manual gearbox, which is a big seller for many.

For example l got my car 2 years ago rrp £40k, l didn't even know of the release of a Rs3 at that time anyways, my cars price with the exact same spec on the facelift S3 has gone up by £2k
The new TTRS was /is £52k what makes anyone think the RS3 will be £8/9k cheaper than the TTRS with the exact same engine
I am settling for £45k basic but with a slightly better standard spec than the current RS3,with that train of thought l won't be disappointed

I wouldn't hold my breath for an RS1....hope I'm wrong though!

for the money i'd pay for a loaded new RS3 Sportback I'm contemplating a slightly used 997 Gen 2 Porsche instead

Thoughts?

Errrrrrrrr....... surely you must have figured out that most of them have you on 'block'! Which is why they have not responded to your post that is no doubt only intended to try to stir up the same old stuff you have been posting before.

My boss has a 997 Turbo. Ferociously fast. But it doesn't sound great. And the interior feels ancient. It's a better proposition in terms of retained value I'd guess. And it also looks great. As an all rounder, I'm pleased I chose the RS3.

Some people buy a car with the same sensible logic as they do a toaster or washing machine. Others buy a car from an emotional viewpoint.

You can have serious fun owning a nice car on UK roads without breaking any laws or killing yourself or others.

By your logic my car is pure insanity - £70k, 450bhp, 4sec 0-60, less than 15mpg - but a logically purchased car wouldn't make me smile at 4.30am when my alarm goes off to go to work, it wouldn't mean I have roadtrips booked with fellow owners who i now get to chat to and share a passion with, it wouldn't make people put there thumbs up at me in tunnels while laughing their heads off, it wouldn't get people coming up to me to take pics and ask questions at the Shell garage, it wouldn't make a dad feel cool when his sons ask you to pick them up and make some noise so they can show off to their mates and on instagram, it wouldn't make me get texts from the local specialist garage asking if I could swing by for a brew because the car excites them, it wouldn't give me the childish joy of going home via the multistory on a friday night and spitting flames at the young lads who congregate in their chav mobiles and most importantly my poor mum wouldn't know what to get me for my birthday - i'm pretty sure i have every RS4 branded thing on the market

It's like a school playground in here with people who cry too much and run to the teacher. Yawn
