Not another Nogaro!!!

Almost there mate, not long before you're greeted by a bouncing Noggy, maybe 'borrowed' from your sig.
:nogarors4:

Hahaha that would be a fun feature.

They do have an enimated screen saver (like that 3-d word that you can customise in windows 98!!!) so I think it's totally capable for an animated boot logo. Just have to somehow make they happen!!!

does this bit of kit support navigation?...

<tuffty/>

So far - no. But the firmware can be flashed so I guess they can develop it. Is the deal broken without it :p

I've contacted the Russians with this question. Will report back.

Pretty much lol

Nice one...

Just updated the firmware of my FIS Control and seems to have the feature I asked Stefan for where you can build displays of individual measurements from different blocks (called collections in FIS) so I can have AFR, EGT, IAT, Coolant temp etc all in the same display... just need to work out the slightly 'interesting' way to get labels onto the values (like VCDS does)... he has a web page you upload an output file from and label everything up on that... export then flash back in... bit round the houses which is why I haven't bothered yet :)

<tuffty/>

Yeah I think for custom stuff you gotta go a by around the houses but that's when you get what you want.

Ahh well. Maybe they'll do the navigation feature soon. But I just use my double DIN HU for that.

The only things missing here are oil pressure and AFR

Unless there's a MB for AFR then you can just choose it in the diagnostics options

is this also able to show the selected gear for auto models like its displayed on the red fis

Can you not use external sensors to display other information like you can with FIS control?

I've messaged the Russian about buying a couple but I think he's been especially busy since you've posted this

That would be good!!! Did you ask him ?? I asked about the navigation thing...

Yeah he had not been inundated with an order of 20 from the USA. I have an order of 15 to ask him about. LOL

AFR is block 032... request and actual... (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/m_blocks/)

That is one thing the FIS does well though... you can add external sensors like AFR, oil pressure, oil temp, EGT etc and display it in the DIS..

Yes I did ask him mate, just waiting for a reply but I'd be surprised if it doesn't support it.

Wow 15 units, sounds like you'll be the official Oz distributor

Wow great news!!
Does this work with the pre face-lift (apy) and with the fis controller??

I think it will - I was able to swap a facelift cluster into a pre facelift car. They both have the same set of plugs and everything worked fine. So I don't see why not.

Can anyone clarify the clusters only are cosmetically different? Because that's all I can see is the difference... the dials faces.

not explicit confirmation but... I believe there are several variants... some have two plugs in back, some three... there are also variances in manufacturer I believe.. VDO being the main one but there are others IIRC..

think its only going to work with pre facelift canbus clusters so its those that start with 8l0 920 the 8l0 919 non can clusters (like mine :crying:) wont work from what i can decipher from the russian site. can clusters have the grey connector at the back, non can has the 20 pin red connector instead

ahhhh right thanks boys

that's the thing - i've only ever seen the three plug clusters down in Oz.... maybe you guys have the early early production ones with the blue and green and then a different centre plug.

i just checked my pre facelift cluster - you are correct with that part number

Ian you can add this to your guide (for those with questions if the colour fis will work on their clusters) (not hijacking your thread lol)

Pre Facelift Non canbus Cluster begins with 8LO 919 (has analog clock) WONT work with Colour Fis (there is some rare anomaly 920 pre facelift clusters with analog clocks but they wont wont as they dont have the grey connector even though they might have a can engine signal on the green connector, Immo 2)

Pfl non can

Pre facelift canbus Cluster starts with 8LO 920 (Digital clock) (essentially a facelift clock that they fitted in the last of the Pre facelift models), after production/manufacturing was stopped on the older clocks (Can Clocks will have the door open signals on the fis, Immo 2/3) will work with colour FIS

Pfl can

Facelift Canbus Clocks (same as pre facelift, just different foils with new S3 logo and some internal circuitry revisions, also Immo 3) will work with colour Fis

FL can

Non Canbus Back (20 pin Red connector)

Non can back

Canbus Back (Grey Connector) think its 32 pin if i remember correctly

Can back

Nice work!!! That explains it all

I'm not sure if I can edit that into the guide though... guess I'm copy and paste into a new post.

Gotta leave maybe 6 hours a weekend to work on the engine since there's study and work to do. Hoping it'll be a slow but steady progression to the final setup!!!

hahaha it is confusing the hell out of everyeone

maybe the guid needs to include how to purchase too
hahaha

yes there are at least 12 people who want this mod in Oz .... christ!!!

so what you actually get is
- motherboard
- screen
- wires
- more wires
- tweeter
- screen protectors

that's it

it's a DIY process. or you can send your cluster to russia.... but that's no fun

Any idea on cost of fitting by you or the company I'm very interested in getting this

I think you can send your cluster to russia for them to do it but not sure what logistical costs there will be.

Same for me. I could do it but it would cost a bit to get it to me and back swiftly. Labour would be the biggest part... it's not a quick job like replacing the OEM screen. Of course. If you want it done. Just PM me and we can sort something out if there's no one on your side of the pond that is game enough.

did you manage this all with a 13mm spanner and long nosed pliers?

I can't even figure out how to email them let alone ask how much to instit ha

Use google chrome as your browser so you even have half a fighting chance of understanding what is going on in the website. You need to make an account on the forum. Ordering details are on the multimfa or colormfa pages. Basically through PM. Just click around. You will find it.

And to think you were questioning your ability to change your oil pump  you charlatan!

You're way above that level of competence looking at what you've done ripping out the engine mate

I've just never done it before so I ask questions to try get my head around it before I delve in

Just the wierd way I work

I spoke to them today they will fit it for an extra 30 usd, seems like a lot of work for $30. But il be getting this done . Thanks Ian for offering

you've missed a trick their TJ - you could have got the 30 people wanting the update and sent them all off to Russia for £150 each ;) new engine paid for in 3 weeks.
