Hi forum!

I got myself a 2.0 tfsi 2010 quattro B8, DSG/S-tronic
Not sure what this is.
When driving at any speed. I get random chirping like sound... At first, I thought it was just crickets from the outside, but after a while, I thought to my self that there are no crickets in a cold environment!
It usually occurs when driving the car after 1 min - 10 minutes, any speed.
This sound can also suddenly appear when cruising at 60 mph for 1-2 hours.
I have had this problem for a year. Still haven't figured out what and where the sound is coming from.
Its definitely not in the interior. I would guess somewhere around the gas tank area, rear wheels, differential...

The sound doesn't go faster nor slower depending how fast I drive.

Also, when I have my phone charging using the 12v socket, I hear a "feedback/static" (not sure what to call it), same chirping sound, coming out of the speakers .

Codes I have had:
P2187 - System to lean at idle, I still have this
P0441 - Evaporative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow - This has dissappeard over time
02256 - Quiescent current - I have this
03041 - Energy Management Active - I have this
02984 - Connection between Impedance-Converter 2 and Disc-Antenna - Always been their

Things I've tried:

Climate Control/Fan/AC OFF
Driving the car with manual mode
Muting the sound system
Clearing fault codes

Anyone having the same issue?

Do you have a towbar fitted? (Or removable towbar that you don't know about hidden under the rear bumper as I did)

No I dont...
the sound just last 3 seconds. No more no less

Seeing as you have/had an EVAP fault logged, is there a chance that you might be hearing the purge solenoid working but causing a bit of noise due to ???. My wife's Polo, when it was new used to make some "peep peep peep'ng" noises at certain times from cold and under certain conditions, I guessed it was due to this EVAP system and eventually discovered on the internet that Skoda in Scandi land had held their hands up and admitted that there was an issue due to VW group using a ribbed hose, which ended up being tuned and made this noise as pulses of air were passed through it! After a big struggle, I convinced my local VW dealer to talk to VW UK about this and 14 days later they rolled out a fix which was just the newer version of this pipe as fitted to the later 1.0TSI and 1.4TSI ACT engines - pipe fitted, noise gone!

I have a fuzzy feeling that this might cause the issue. The problem is not mechanical. But rather electrical, hence hearing feedback on the speakers. Like you said, purge valve solenoid in the rear gas tank.
I think the ECM tests the purge solenoid every now and then. I guess most common testing procedure is right after starting the car, and driving a bit. Not sure about this tho.
Thanks for the reply, I will look into this.
