Can't find the firm on fb. I just searched hydro dipping Berkshire (your county) in facebook. It should come up with local to you dippers. I paid £70 for engine cover, front & rear ring badges

Hi Wozza, thanks for that mate
Just found a place here in Sheffield
carink.co.uk 0114 3272726

that's the problem down south, everything's priced at a premium.....

Wassup boys, my wallets taken a beating!

It's been a busy week for the DTM, it's had some repair & maintenance work done.

I've had a problem with my temp gauge reading low & the heat not blowing very hot. I changed the temp sensor myself but no joy. Just my luck it had to be the more complicated thermostat job.

I thought I'd be best to bring the timing belt job forward from next year just in case there was a fault with the waterpump too. I'm definitely not knowledgeable enough to even try & attempt this job, so I'll leave it to my trusty mechanic. TPS tb belt & waterpump, auxiliary belt, stat & coolant bought (£220 with £20 back for old pump), my mechanic went to work. I'm happy to say all is back to normal.

Got a spanking new 12 months ticket with only cv boot to do. Yep I'm a wuss, I got my mechanic to do it at the same time as tb belt service. £250 for all the labour inc the cv boot, not too bad I think. I made sure to keep receipts & get the service book stamped for the tb service.

Finally some jobs I can do. A full service was done. Oil, recharge induction kit, all filters inc fuel & ngkbkr7 plugs. I also fitted S4 caliper clips & gave the car a good clean.

Sorry guys I didn't get any pics of the maintenance work, but here's a few of the clips & some of the DTM cleaned up. I like to clean my car but I'm far from anal about it. With a everyday car & two kids it's no point going crazy because in three days it'll be filthy again.

Here's hoping for a trouble free 2017 motoring year, she owes me. Thanks for looking!

Sweet the DTM must of left a good impression. Do you do your mods yourself? Where abouts you from fella? The reason I'm asking is it would be nice to have someone close by to help in person, if it's cool with you obviously.

I'm thinking the same as you with the headlights & possibly the same front grille. I'm from Slough & for some reason I'm getting the feeling your from Reading, maybe a previous post or have I asked you before?

I'm not totally useless, can service & do small jobs myself. I'm off work for a week now so I need to get my teeth stuck into something so thinking de-tango & joey the lights. Anyway it'll be cool to see where you go with the DTM.

Merry Christmas guys.

Lol yeah a fair distance away! Imola yellow would be special. I gotta be brave & try the headlights myself. Keep us updated on your build mate. Others on here are a bit quiet at the moment, hopefully we'll have some more modified DTMs from next year. Next on my list is de-tango, new rs4 gloss black grill, tints & vinyl wrap a new colour.

Hey guys.

Just a little update

Kinda sorted the front end out and lowered it a little more. What you think

Well after some work on the front of the car I decided to change the grille at the same time. Gives the DTM a meaner look. Just think I need to gloss the grilles in the bumper next.

dude

it needs the rings on the front

See I do have some carbon rings but putting them and the holder against the grille they stick out over one and a half inches. I'll run with it as is and see how I feel about it in a few months.

Looks OK, but I have to agree with this

But each to their own, it's your car :)

Plus does the bumper alignment need adjusting a little?

Bumper has been adjusted as good as it can be. The slam panel it slightly off from before I bought the car which is causing the slight gap on the left (on the right when viewing it). Something I'll rectify later once I've got some spare cash and sourced a new slam panel. Need to concentrate on other things first.

It doesn't look too bad in fairness. Most people won't even see it!

I only notice it, as I had a similar issue with the bumper alignment on my DTM. This was from the slam panel being damaged previously.

It always used to bug me. In the end with many adjustments, I got it pretty close. I was tempted to change it, but it seemed like a lot of work to do. It's always something I look at now!

Have you tried adjusting the rubber stoppers under the bonnet, I managed to even the gap that way. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs :D

No probs. Cheers for the comments. Trouble is the bonnet is flush to the wing and if I adjust the stoppers it will even the gap but then won't line up with the wing. And as you say it's not mega noticeable but I notice it and am very critical so it bugs me.

Hi everyone.
Just a quick question about the original DTM wheel size.
Do they have an ET43 offset or ET47.
I have bought a set that are ET43 and there are lots been sold on ebay stating that they are original Audi A4 DTM wheels from the DTM cars but have an ET47.
I understand that the DTM car has a larger brake setup and would require the wheels to sit further away from the hub to accommodate the bigger brakes.
Am I right in what I`m saying? or did they come in ET47 offsets?
Or do the A4 DTM, S4 DTM 25th anniversary S4 have different wheel offsets?
Thanks everyone.

Hi mate its a really easy adjust if you open your bonnet and look at the top of your grill you will see 2 holes.if you look through them there is a bumper height adjuster t30 torx.

At the moment my dtm has the engine out having an overhaul.new chains and tensioner. A much needed inlet port de coke new stem seals all new gaskets

Alright chaps, weathers improving so it's time for some work on the DTM.

I had 100mm black exhaust tips fitted but felt they looked lost against the black defuser. So with my cars colour scheme being sprint blue & black I thought blue burnt exhaust tips would look the dogs danglies.

Here are the new 100mm tips, they're very good quality & are £34 a piece.

I thought while I'm paying to have the tips welded I may aswell get matey to remove the resonator, renew the droopy exhaust hangers & change a worn gasket.

I got the car back late so I haven't had the chance to get any decent photos. I will clean the car tmrw & get some more pics up & maybe a video. I can tell you that the car now sounds a lot louder when you give it some, but it's quiet when cruising. I already have a de-cat fitted so that's gonna make it louder too. I'm not too sure if I like the sound, it's more raspy than booming. Id have preferred a booming meaty sound, I'll have a proper listen tmrw. I'm well happy with the looks though.

Thanks for looking,
Sayonara

Weather is **** so no car wash today. Here's a few more shots of the tips.

I did ask him to stick em out a bit. I know what you mean tho. I'm not too sure on the colour now, lol! I may try & lose the colour, if not swap tips again!!

So after running the DTM with the new grille without the rings I have now decided it looks an it bare. So they have been added back on. Just using a cheap carbon dipped set at the moment and not using the plinth so that they don't stick out as much.

Show us some pics Jay. I'm gonna get the gloss black rs4 too, have u got a link? Deffo need a badge I think. Ive stuck on the smaller carbon dipped badge, from a distance it looks de-badged. I think I'll use the holder & go back to the larger rings in carbon dipped or silver.

Pic is shown in my post. I got the grille from this place on eBay. Fit is. It 100% bit looks ok. The blanking plates either side of the grille still need spraying gloss black but it's not very noticeable.

And after

I did away with the plinth and used very small cable ties threaded in from the ear to hold it on. It has a much lower profile.

Nice one Jay, that looks much better!

Thanks for the link, it's the same one I was looking at. How do you find the gloss black looks against the other matte black grilles in the bumper? From your pics they don't look too different in colour. Have you used a back to black on the smaller grilles & if so what product?

Appreciate your time, thankyou!

ps Jay, I don't suppose you have your original DTM grille for sale by any chance?

Wozza. Well when you look close up the other grilles could do with being gloss black but it's not bothering me,
at the moment that is as I have bigger fish to fry with the DTM being off the road at the currently

I still have my other grille. As it's damaged I was going to play with wrapping the chrome surround and seeing how it looks compared to the Current RS4 grille.
