Hi All

So, I picked up my S3 narvarra black edition saloon today. Hurrah! Feels great to be back in a car with some guts. I changed from an evoque, so quite the difference. The interior quality is superb. I had a TT a few years ago (pre face lift) and it was a lovely cabin, and they've only got better. The build quality having only been with it for a day is so vastly better than JLR, it's almost hilarious.

As with any new car I go on a research rampage/frenzy to find out all the tips and trick settings that are a must have. Does anyone have any tips, i.e. settings that you didn't know about (but should) sat nav updates that you should get sorted etc??

I had a few pleasant surprises today, not knowing that my S3 came with the sweeping indicators, mag ride, the cool rings in the puddle lights. I should have done my research, but all nice additions all the same.

I'm curious to see black/Navarra. Very particular combo.

I must say I was particularly nervous about the choice leading up to today but as soon as I saw it in the flesh I was convinced (even if very dirty). Pictures just don't do it justice.

...Only thing I might be tempted to do.i future (which I started another post about last week) was the option to have silver mirror caps. With the black pack I think it'll be a great combo

Here are some I researched before I receive my S3 hopefully this or next week
Passenger wing mirror auto curb view in reverse
star symbol (steering wheel) setup for drive select or other favourite shortcut.
Individual drive mode with my perceived preferences loaded.
Android Auto/smartphone setup.
Bluetooth pairing.
I downloaded the manual to review common setup procedures with the MMI and other functions

Some nice ones there thank you. How do you set up the mirror trick?

I agree @Flying Scotsman. I'd add:

  • Turn off some of the less useful map POI categories
  • Get the speed camera locations and upload to the car (thread for that on here)

This is great thank you both!! Why doesn't it dipper driver side as well?

I would love to use Android Auto but there is no way I am plugging my phone in every time I get in the car. Why can't you use it over bluetooth like Apple Carplay? :(

I can only assume as we drive on the left, the vast majority of parking against the kerb will be on the left!

That, but moreso because if you are parking with the kerb on the right you are right next to it so can see the kerb much more easily

Annoyingly I park outside my house on the street facing the oncoming traffic. Perhaps I need to re think that. It's just a right faff turning around

Hi, has anybody in the UK been able to use these mirror dip instructions successfully? I've tried a couple of times on my FL with no success.

Having the same issue myself

If it's anything like what I had on my A4 it isnt worth having. It would sometimes dip, sometimes not, sometimes reset back after reversing, sometimes not! I tired it off very quickly as it was temperamental at best!

Hmmm......wonder if it is setup for left hand drive vehicles only. Try the driver side mirror and if that works, complain like hell and state, I know we are Brexit bound but this retaliation is silly :whistle2:

I got it working but it took a lot of faffing around. Trying to adjust and store the mirror position while in reverse didn't always work, sometimes it wouldn't remember the new position. Finally it seemed to save the settings, but I've left the control knob pointing to the left hand mirror because I'm still not convinced it'll work again.

That is your problem...you must leave the switch for the passenger mirror in the on position for it to work. You can move the switch but it will not dip, put it back to passenger and it will work as previously programmed.

Do you have folding mirrors?
I thought this mod won't work without auto folding mirrors...But will work with any car if you have vcds??

Yes, I have folding mirrors. I know the control needs to be set to passenger mirror to get it to dip, but it sometimes seems to lose the stored dipped position if I turn the knob away from passenger mirror to something else.

Cheers thanks for clearing that up for me:friends:
Wonder if your problem could be solved with having it coded with vcds....Or is that the route you took?
