May I know what is that for?

It's so the switch remembers it's state when you turn the ignition off so if you don't like S/S it saves you from having to press the button every time you get in the car.

Yep as Oli says I've had S/S disabled practically since I got the car using the VCDS voltage mod just thought I'd give this a try saves getting the S/S unavailable icon on the DIS. This is how the button should behave - my headlamp and wipers switch remembers what they're on LoL

Heard back from alloy insurers today to say claim is approved and they have appointed "Revive Auto Innovations" Having a quick look online, cant see much, and no mention of Diamond Cut

Sorry Rob, I still don't understand what this is for. I have a USA 8V sedan (saloon). Is the Start/Stop you're referring to the same as "Auto Stop" feature seen on other VAG cars? For the US market, I don't think our 8V ever had that feature.

Hi mate, it's the engine stop/start when you're stationery the engine will stop when foot is on the brake and move again when you lift off to accelerate as long as other conditions are met battery voltage, temp, seatbelt etc. Some get on with it but other don't. There's a button on the dash near the hazard light and drive select buttons that deactivates stop/start - say you press this drive to the shop, keys out and get out your car. When you next get in and start up the button will be off and stop/start active again. The module remembers the button state to save you pressing it each time you get in the car. Bit like how the car remembers your seat heating setting.

Could be market specific I'm really not sure.

We (US market) didn't get the feature, along with efficiency mode and a host of other options. Cost cutting tactics.

Thanks guys.

@rcnacura. Nice to see another owner member here from the States (I'm also from the West Coast). I enjoyed your Laguna Seca track day video! I've been meaning to ask: did you ever complete the door puddle lights mod? I followed that thread and am about to order a set from Aliexpress to try out on my S3.

I did get the puddle door lights working, but didn't get the ambient lights to work that can be controlled with the mmi unfortunately. Not sure how to get it to work. Still need to put in my foot well lights too. Glad you like the Laguna seca bids, might be heading back again in Feb (or Sonoma).

Thanks for the update. I can forgo the footwell lights (I had them in my Mk7 Golf R and wasn't impressed) but I really like for both the red door lights and bottom door puddle lights to work (both front amd rear doors) . When I get around to it, would you mind me checking with you for troubleshooting?

What's considered ambient lighting in the A3/S3? Is it the LEDs in the door handles?

Ya let me know if you have any questions. Are you in the SF area?

Ambient lighting is lighting that was a hard to find option. Basically lights that were under the mistral door accents. Think I just need some other module maybe.

Thanks RCN! I'm just over the hill in Northern NV. Regarding the door lights (red and puddle), is this the set you purchased: 8 Pcs OEM LED Footwell Light

Ambien lighting...ahh this is what you were talking about. I don't think any of the S3 had lighted inlays options. Must be a ROW option.

Nothing, just walked past it. It's still clean but not turned a wheel for over two months. I wonder why I need it sometimes....

What month and year is your car? Do you have the tech pack?

I was under the impression this couldn't be done on my car

I have looked into this with @DJAlix and after trouble shooting this and testing wiring, when using VCDS we could not get the output on the back of the sub woofer connection working. My MMI was an early MMI version (MY13) which did not have the DAB hardware function.

So my16 should work?

I have actually been investigating this further since we last spoke, via a SEAT Leon, and although VCDS coding is needed ultimately firmware changes need making also, hence the use of VCP within the retrofit guide. The Main problem has been that the files available within VCP are not labelled very well if at all, and using firmware files in error can screw things up :(

Sorry Alex, I thought this was a message to me that came up in tapatalk. apologies for jumping onto the thread

There are a few available but @DJAlix has a little gem up his sleeve might be worth sending him a PM
If you are interested in a S/S module please hold on for a few more days... I have something coming that might be of interest to a good number of people :)

Excellent thanks for the help, so just needs a simple VCDS code?

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
No :( This needs a combination of Coding (via VCDS or alike) and something called parameterisation, which VCDS cannot do. You will need access to a tool such as Vag Can Professional.
