So today was the day. Picked her up, and boy oh boy am I impressed.
Very smooth, and a huge step up in refinement from my BMW m140.
I loved my M140, but really wanted a wagon and AWD.... so decided to bite the bullet, take a small hit(it all worked out with the great deal I got so wasn't that painful)
Really pleased with my decision, which was made without a test drive(which was a first for me) but being that an S4 avant has always been on my bucket list, I decided to roll the dice.
I was a little worried as I really loved the BMW, and wasn't sure about the Automatic gearbox (BMW was a manual).
Well here she is..... trip to Cornwall this weekend,so that should be a nice way to get a feel for the car properly.

It's a great car and you'll have lots of fun with the loud pedal - the sound is addictive with lots of character that doesn't come across on the YT videos. Like you, I've always wanted an S car and ordered it with no test drive because I wanted it right now! It's ridiculously thirsty straight out of the showroom, so plan your trip with strategic garage stops :)

Those wheels are lovely with Daytona. Superb choice. Enjoy driving it!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Love the wheels! I thought I was getting the other set of 19s, so was pleasantly surprised! Hahaha I personally like them more.
The sound of this thing is addicting! What a puurrrr! Made me realize just how shut the BMW sounded!

A little. After 1500 miles I can get 35mpg on the commute to work with a range over 420 miles. I never actually do 420 miles of course because: sound, fun, addiction, overtaking and grinning :)

Ha - I know that feeling! My routine has become Efficiency on the way to work and Dynamic on the way home :)

Huge improvements buddy. Went from 335mile range to 415 range after 4 weeks. Getting steady 30mpg long term. 36 on work runs midweek short term memory but with dabs of excitable driving too.

car looks ace :sunglasses:

Do the new S4's run on 95 ron or is 98 ron specified on the filler cap label ?

My old S5 was 95 ron so just wondered if the new engines had been tweaked and required higher octane fuel now.

I've not taken any notice, mine get Tesco's '99 at every fill up

I'm hoping it's 95 (or is the standard Shell fuel 93?) because when I had my test drive that's what I threw in! Didn't even think about it because most vehicles these days are happy with it.

Ran fine for the 80 miles afterwards anyway!

Even if the stickers do say 98 ron, they will run ok with 95 ron but there may be a slight restriction on full performance.

All unleaded fuel is 95 ron minimum no matter where you get it from, but the super inleaded fuel vary a lot brand to brand.

Tesco momentum & Shell V Power nitro are both 99 ron - and the best IMO.
Esso, BP, Sainsburys, Jet, Murco etc are all 97 ron for super unleaded.

Hence if you can get super unleaded go for Tesco or Shell wherever you can.

Still be interested to know what fuel type the new engines are set up for - if you one of you Guys can take a look on the inside of the fuel cap

Would appear to be 95.

That is excellent then @ 95 ron.
Means you can use any brand of fuel without any concerns at all.
MUCH cheaper than super unleaded too.
