Hi All,

I havent posted a thread on here in a couple of years so its overdue.
So i placed an order on an a facelift S3 saloon early november and collected the car yesterday.
On the recommendation of Andrew at DTUK on his thread here I thought i would head up to Kings Lynn Audi (after popping into one of my local-Bexley audi and them being useless). I have to say it was worth the 100mile trip with the service being excellent and what you would have expected from a premium brand.
I was on the rs3 thread recently as i did was the new rs3 saloon but it is a bit too far away and a bit too much with mortgage commitments etc.
Anyway after having had 2 previous s3 saloons black and sepang and absolutely loving it, i thought i would go for Nano grey with grey supersports and Virtual cockpit.
After picking it up yesterday i love it, the colour is amazing, dark at night but soft and glossy when it catches the sun. Love the virtual cockpit and impressed with the new s tronic gearbox. The sound of the facelift puts a smile on my face too.
I was 50/50 about the rotor grey interior when ordering but glad i ordered it now after having black on all my previous cars. It complements the Nano grey nicely in my opinion.
Thought i will start a thread as monday i am getting the grill and chrome trim wrapped gloss black, short plates going on midweek. The end of the week on friday will be getting it lowered on HnR super sports i have and then HnR 20mm and 15mm spacers going.
I also have an APR intake going on at some point too. That was another perk sticking with the s3 saloon i have all the parts ready to bolt on. The only part i cant reuse is my DTUK box which i will list up on the classified section and i am told i will need a new one for the facelift.
I have also booked it in mid feb for a new car protection detail with the G techniq laquer. I have never got a car detailed so thought ill get this one done.
Overall very happy customer.

Looks mint! iv gone for rotor grey to be different hopefully it will go with the ara blue too!

Any reason you didn't go for BE with you getting the chrome wrapped black?

You don't need a new tuning box, it just needs a software update which DTUK will do for free. (I'm assuming your DTUK was for your previous s3)

The interior is amazing you will love it. It is a change to black gives the cabin a wow factor.
I didnt like the black edition wheels which come standard and im quite fussy thats the only reason plus can always revert back if bored

Thats interesting. Thanks for letting me know. I messaged andrew at dtuk and he said i need a new box so i assumed it was a complete new box. I had the DTUK box on mt pre facelift s3 saloon 15 plate.
So all i have to do is send it to be updated for the facelift S3?
If that is the case i think i will keep it! You may have saved me some £££. Thansk

Love the all grey interior / exterior, it compliments brilliantly.
I see too that you got the Audi Beam, as you should've, without having to go back to them to get it fitted.

Whilst I personally prefer the black interior, the rest looks great.

Exact same reasoning as me plus I like the silver wings. Think I will go with the wrapped grille!

They are a lovely touch. Really impressed with the interior light back. I have never had that previously.

Exactly that. I unsure whether to do the mirrors, my friends are telling me to the back diffuser too. I need to decided as booked in tomorrow.

I'm the same, I've ordered a BE but can't decide whether to get the diffuser done so it matches the non BE (the silver along the top)

I spoke to DTUK and they told me I just need a software update which makes sense, as it can only be software. I haven't done it yet but will be in the next few weeks. I think someone on here has even got their prefacelift box on his facelift car and hasn't had any issues.

Thanks for letting me know. I messaged him twice, once i thought it was software which was a couple months back, but today from what i gathered it was a a new box. I am just gonna ring up tomorrow and ask. Ill let you know what i find out. Ideally i want to reuse the box as i will keep the car another couple years.
It does make sense what your saying. wow surprised someone used it without updating and it was all ok.

cracking looking car mate - congrats.

I'm getting an "S3 XXX" plate on my PL S3 soon - V5 sent away last week and just waiting for new one. I see you mention having short plates fitted. I thought the front plate on the A3/S3 couldn't be shortened because you'd be left with the rest of the plate space either side - not a great look. I can see that the back would be easier to fit short plates. Can you enlighten me ? :)

I havent run short plates in a while last time was in 2010 but that was on the black optics grill. since then i have had chrome grills so havent run them. Ill look for a picture i had previously. With the black i think you can get away with a short plate more as opposed to the chrome. The only way really is to get the plateless grill but thats pricey. Will see how it looks and will revert to normal ones if it is odd.

Here's the chat I had with DTUK

I just rang DTUK and spoke to adam and have also mesaged andrew. I am told again that it cant be sent in for updates, it is different hardware for the 310 s3.
I told them i have been told different but their sticking with that i need a new box. Looks like simon may have given out the information too early.
Ill send a pic of the convo now

I think ill just sell mine either way. Will post it up in the classified section later.

Would be interesting to find that guy that's out a prefacelift box on his facelift then! Can't remember the thread though

That would be interesting. Overall i have been very happy with DTUK and it has provided me with loads of smiles. Andrew has always been helpful and quick to reply so i cant really complain. It is what it is. if someone gave out the wrong information from his team not much he can do i suppose but is does cause unnecessary confusion.

I have a pre FL dtuk box on my FL car and works perfect. been on for 3k miles with no issues. I was told it was £150 for the update. Box only cost me £150 or 170 cant remember now but deffo not worth adding another 150 to the price. I would have paid £50 or something but not £150 that's ridicules

For what I paid I am happy with it.
