What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Still waiting to hear if it will be written off. Starting to get impatient as it looks like it will but all parties seem to be dithering.

What to replace it with?

Ben

Tried to go on a job today up north but after an hour and a half to get to Sutton bank, weaving past various stuck/spinning mercs and BMWs, found it was shut due to a flipped vehicle so turned round as the other routes looked silly too... but took an opportunity to take a quick snap or two...

just get another B7 chap, but make sure it has a better history to it that is checkable, well if possible...good luck

It's not something I have done today and it's not Audi related....but it did give me a right good laugh.

One of my mates Down South sent me this....

that is so on the money carl, met office gave our postcode a yellow warning for upto 10-20 cm , local radio banged on about aswell allday Thursday, schools were shut , totally bonkers mate, what did we get max about 2mm over the space of 1 hour and that was it, what have things come to in this country.
When I was a small chap , I had to walk to school in all weather inc snow, nothing shut down , everyone just carried on.....end of rant...

anyways, i'm in the midst of the coolant flange fix, and quite frankly it is a real nighmare to do, 3hrs in and I have just got the old one off the car....god nows how long it will take to get the new one back on, not ideal working blind with no space and having to use smaller tools....I'll get there in the end though.

All done now just need to refill the coolant , and see where it leaks ...
Anyway that was a 5 1/2 hour job and to be honest not really for the DIY car fixer as it is a very fiddly and tricky job.....do it at your own risk .

I'll update my other thread on the fix for those afflicted with the dreaded leak and want to consider a diy fix themselves.

I'm going to sit down now with a big mug of tea and some chocy biscuits..have a good evening chap.

That's quite a long fix for something so small. Well done anyway Rob!

Sounds like a good earner for a garage then.....I'm sure they over engineer everything for for that one reason.

Its one of those really irritating jobs carl, total parts cost me all in £30 which included 5l of concentrate antifreeze, so very cheap really but the acctuall job is bonkers , I cant see how else it can be done either.
If I had to do it again , which I don't plan on doing if at all possible, I could do it in 3 hours as I have changed some of the real bugbear oem hose clamps which are good but a real pain to get off in a very confined space, with decent jubilee clips.
I recon I spent a good hour and half just getting them clips of.....and hoses freed up, anyway job done hopefully leak free but i'll see for sure in the morning.

I have to admit that I hate nearly all OEM clips on all cars but the ones on the Audi are aweful......when I did my DPF delete I had to take the EGR cooler off and on the same size pipe they had two different types of clip that where a PITA.

Main thing you've done it now

The car had low miles (69k) and all services bar one were done at Audi. It was just very poorly repaired in the past. I just put it down to my bad luck.

I'm on the lookout for an S4 but will probably go back to BMW.

Hi guys, I am trying to find a part number for the washer bottle plastic trim. I got one off here last week that someone had posted but when I ordered this part through audi when it turned up it's for the 4.2 v8 and had a cutout for the oil dipstick which the 2.0tdi doesn't. The part number I had was 8EO 103 927f anyone help me get the right part? Thanks

And ohhhhhhhhh carbon fibre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Broke the plastic trim on the drivers side rear head rest (Bit with push button release)
2. De-Badged the rear, just need some gunk remover to finish it off.

Been spending the last 2-3 days removing and cleaning and prepping the calipers for spraying , hopefully have then on this weekend. Pics to follow

Snow foamed, ish. Think the mixture was wrong. Bottle says mix 20/80 foam to water. Auto gym say 100 foam.

And got the badge glue off.

^^^ That foam :hubbahubba: I need to get me a pressure washer. Any you recommend / avoid? Heard mixed reviews on Karcher but recommended on the whole.

We got our karcher from home base for 49.99 on offer, I got the spray foam thing for 12 from halfords on discount which was better then trade card(?????)

Always used Nilfisk or Kew Alto as they used to be known.....mine runs around 140bar 2030psi and it's about 10 years old now. Yet I know people with Karchers and they last a few years. Kranzle is a really good make also.....but the prices of some are ridiculos.

At the end of the day it's down to personal choice but to get good foam you also need a good foam lance and not the ones that come with the machine. You can get a decent foam lance for around the £40 mark but it's definitely worth it.

This is the spray gun which I just walked on the end of the gun. The first run I used 20% foam and 80% water as per the spray gun guide, which just slid off. Then a full bottle, but that may have had water still in it. still not really thick though.

Carl, looks like you avant is a victim of a driveby biological decontamination unit , it looked dangerous so they neutralised it...lol

I've had a few issues since owning the car. One thing on my mind was the hpfp cam follower, so had a look and replaced it along with the o ring and bolts for the pump. Cam lobe looks good too

Got myself a new set of wheels. Genuine A6 Le Mans, 8.5J x 19". Fit lovely with the AP coiovers and the best bit about it is I havent had to adjust the coilovers and have no rubbing (except when on full lock at the front, minor detail). Will try get some picks when shes clean again. Have fallen back in love LOL.

Hi carl,

The only indication is the DIS saying lamp out, then it goes off again.

When I pulled in to the drive the other night the brake light warning was on (car driver side, not boot) so I used an old Naval engineers trick, tapped it and the lamp came back on.

REF: the rear licence plate, I swapped the lamps for LEDs. Previously I had a spurious DIS warning which came and went.

When I removed the licence lens I found the passenger side one was bone dry, but the lamp looked burnt out but worked. The driver side one had some water in it at some stage, the lamp connections were coated in white powder and the two copper contacts in the tail gate had a little darkening on them. So I cleaned the lamp holder and copper contacts. Greased all the rubber seals and screw thread.
After installing both lamps and holders, the drivers side one (that had some moisture in it) flickered then settled down. I have not scanned it yet.

Any thoughts, or is my car possessed.
