In a predicament...

Have to say that Blue on the RS3 with the black accents is SAF !!:hubbahubba:

My original plan was to wait for the saloon but with very little information about availability etc I decided to go for a low mileage 2016 Sportback. I'm not 100% convinced on the looks of the saloon either (although the car Jassy posted does look good!) I was expecting it to look a bit more like the Clubsport concept.

I did try to put a deposit down in the summer but the dealer I was talking to wouldn't take my money based on the fact they didn't know if/when a facelift RS3 would come to the UK. It looks like things have moved on now but I'm more than happy with my purchase.

The main issue I have with the new one ........ whenever it makes an appearance is going to be the price and new tax rules !

£500 notes a year in car tax is a bitter pill to swallow as is the 1st year registration at £1,500

Factor in a price rise of say £2k plus new extras like virtual cockpit and I would be looking at an increase of circa £5k vs. what I paid this time last year.

If they don't fix the squeaky brakes I will not be buying another one regardless anyway ...... as superb as the car is, the brakes issue is very annoying and I aint fitting after market brakes (on a virtually new car) at my cost or invalidating my warranty either.
Agree mate, and like I said earlier experts are saying if Germany play hardball by adding tariffs to trade coming into the uk then they are saying £1,800 added to each new car supplied by Germany, surely Audi would have to up their dealer contribution?

The UK can equally play hardball. We are a net exporter to Germany remember, albeit marginally. Ignore the rhetoric from the politicians, a fair deal will no doubt ultimately be struck.

Lol the RS3 didn't, it's 18 months old! Facelift isn't even a new model is it, minor tweaks only. Cheers anyway!

Well TX to be honest l think my S3 looks a bit dated compared to the face lift one, maybe not so much the RS3 as that has its own unique front bumper and grille, thats what l really my point lol

The FL does look sharper no doubt.

Audi are very clever re-styling lights, bumpers & alloys to create a fresher look.

But I was sat in mine tonight & thinking that the only internal change on the FL would be the VR dash ... so virtually all changes on the outside & very minimal internally.

I keep comparing to the new A4/S4 interior which is VERY classy & modern .... if they had re-styled the RS3 interior to that level then it would be a great new look ... but same interior / seats etc hmmmm !

Hold on they swapped the alcantara around on the steering wheel ;)

The new S5 interior is outstanding. Bring that to the A3/S3/RS3 and it will blow the competition away even further.

Totally agree ... but in reality that will be the all new '3' in whatever year that is.

I am very impressed by the 4 & 5 interiors ... seats, dash, materials, styling etc - very very swish & modern.

By the time the new RS3 is out say this time next year (for delivery) I'm not sure how I would feel about having the same interior for another 2 to 3 years .... ?????

You and me both. I will most definitely need a raised ride height when I order this time next year. I'm not a fan of the Q3, and the Q2 is a big disappointment. The top 5 on my list just now, in no particular order are VW Tiguan, 2017 Mini Countryman, XC40 (if it is out in time), Kia Sportage and the Hyundai Tucson. All are in approximately the same price bracket. If a miracle cure for my crumbling spine is found then I may go A3 S-line but do I want the same interior again???! I feel the same as you, the A4/A5/Q5/Q7 etc interior is well above the A3's interior. I love the A3s interior but in comparison it just looks very dated. I've got 11 months to decide!!

All the interior lights are ice white now on the facelift. Whereas the prefacelift has red lights!

Its good to weigh up all the options!
Personally I would wait...... you will kick yourself if you get a 2016 RS3 and then a 2017 FL pulls up next to you at the lights.

Hold tight and all will become
Clear!

No way I would be kicking myself, if a 2017 saloon pulls up next to me at the lights...

There is a hole in the back Spaceman, or so I'm told, but I can never see it when shaving; I still think it a very-nasty rumour...

RS7 and Judith and mexx

2-years back with a very sweaty (9mpg over a 30-mile 5ºC run) RS7...

Same here, though Stafford Audi has kindly offered to assist with the door widening, how nice of 'em - but I know they're just after BLUEY...

The RS7 is a big barge and I love it. I don't care what it looks like ONLY what it does; and from 60mph to silly illegal speeds the RS7/6 or S8 is amazing - it's that twin-turbo power-plant up front that does it.

But for everyday use (driver and 1-passenger) I'd still take the RS3, period: it is smaller, neater, more chuckable/agile, and quicker too, in my own experience.

But on an open road above 3-digit speeds the RS7 is one hell of a machine - and then somewhat boring as it's having to be held back some. Less can sometimes be sooo much more, and we find that with our 185bhp twin-charge A1 as you can drive it 'harder' more often...

And I've measured my garage more than once and an RS7 still won't fit...

Haha, I was due to do an update on this thread this weekend so will just do one now instead as your forcing me into it :tearsofjoy: !!

So I've driven two more RS3's as well as a bonkers TTRS my friend has for sale since the OP date.
First RS3 was £42500 with a really nice spec and pretty much ticked all the boxes.
Second RS3 was £39500 but had more miles and less options obviously.
Lastly the TTRS is a Stage 2+ APR pushing 430BHP + 610NM torque, It also has some lovely custom RS4 style Wingbacks rather than the standard leathers they came in.

I really shouldnt have gone in the TTRS is all i can say. But the thing is for me the lack of practicality with it. I mean barring the Mag suspension, Engine and few body components it is the same car as what I have now and it does look a bit dated, plus no new toys. But then I think to myself id be saving at least 15k upfront cost and now the new TTRS isnt going into production, surely they'll become much rarer ? Also buying off a friend whos had all the work done himself and treats it like his baby child is an added bonus.

I think realistically with the other things I have going on this year it would be foolish of me to jump into a massive pcp deal where I wouldnt be able to do anything else other than pay for my car each month. Ive put the numbers together and the best deal ive got so far is about 3k down and 675ish a month which i know isnt that bad but when I see the money monthly its still a silly amount taking into consideration all of my other monthly payments. Im not saying im going to buy the TTRS this weekend at all by any means, friends not in a rush to sell and he'd rather it went to someone he knew locally than to someone where he'd never get to see it again. Hes put a lot of work into it bless him. But I did absolutely love it and the wingbacks were so much comfier than the alcantara/leather sports seats. Did I mention it was a rocket :rocket:!

When i first thought about the idea of owning an 8V RS3 as my next car i knew it wasnt going to be cheap considering the spec that I wanted. I think the best thing for me right now is to keep my TT until I actually get any interest on it (It is now in the classifieds section on here).

Ive got a date in my head now that I want to be out of my current motor and in a new one but If it doesnt happen im not going to moan about it. Id rather be in the best position financially when negotiating the best deal, so that I can literally pull the trigger as I originally did with my TT. Plus my PCP on the TT ends next Jan :) !

Sorry to those who have been strongly awaiting some pictures of an RS3. Shame I didnt win the Euros last night as would of been perfect timing :tearsofjoy:!

Hopefully you dont have to wait too long to see my next motor! It will be a five pot turbo though that I can promise.

Your right, Snake, so I'm keeping this (and our TT and A1): I like the 8P RS3 and this one is 'all' mine, paid for on day #1, and having an airing yesterday:

Forget the face-lifts, the sharper this and that, the mechanical tweaks, and all, and all; this one (winter rubber shod for now) does us just fine....

To be fair, I look at your RS3 and think it looks fantastic.
The 8p RS3 has a timeless look all of its own and it still looks fresh & modern IMO.
It has some great lines and that colour is just fab !!!
It has pretty much the same engine & bark as the 8v and that is the heart & soul of these cars

Tis why I get pi88ed off with all the facelift bo88ocks, Snake. If dreamers were to chill some and look at availability then they wouldn't be rushing to commit to extravagant monthly payments; LESS is more often sooo much MORE. Buy something less and drive the ba88s of it. Buy an RS7 and the car does soooo much it becomes a bore; I know, I know; just sayin'

A Lotus Elan Sprint ragtop owner driver for 40-years and I still cherish an Elan, as do many others; the Elan was not a car you sat in and drive but one that you seemingly WEAR!! The MX5 is close but still not there as yet. Howevere, I honestly feel the RS3 has similar characteristics to the Elan and I love it for it's -tve points as much as it's +tves - the RS3 sure has Elan (enthusiastic vigor and liveliness).

Take some beating does an RS3 to carry 4-people and luggage quickly and safely over all-weather UK roads.

For two persons only then a TTRS would be my machine of choice; and I'm still looking for a suitable TTRS ragtop (already have a TT ragtop) to sit alongside the RS3.

Get over the subjective issues of the 8P/8V RS3 and enjoy it for what it ALREADY is - if you don't then you sure are missing lots.

gotta agree with all of that & very well said :salute:

TTRS rag top would sit VERY nicely next to Bluey though :)

8P has a very dated interior though compared to an 8V. Whilst the next one gets an optional digital dash, I still think it's much less of a change.

Ahem, would 'SOUND' very nice next to BLUEY; love the noise of that 5-pot...

That said, very happy with our 2.0 TT DSG ragtop, ticks ALL of the boxes, except noise and accessible torque at LOW RPM...

100% correct andytt, and I do agree! But when at 88% FULL chat Mid Wales on a chilly sub 7ºC (snow on the roadsides) day a digital dash just doesn't matter one iota: PLUS both me and mine and BLUEY are ALL now OLD and DATED!

Capel Curig P1010773

I guess a digital dash in a car park somewhere nice, is nice.

Couple of year back on the A5 toward Wales and BLUEY was overtaking a 'group' at pace and RS3copilot asked "how fast were we going there" and I replied "way too fast too look": so I don't believe a digital dash would have helped. But then I'm old....

Give an RS3 the 'beans' over Welsh roads and you'll not be looking at a digital dash, I'm a guessing; eyes focused on the road ahead, EVO Trianle an' all...
