Bose or better sound upgrades

got 2012 s3, but with the cruddy sound system

To upgrade to atleast the bose system is it a simple install, are any of the audio wires already in place for the amp etc?

Is it just 4 speakers and an amp or the their a small sub included as standard?

Im under the impression that the system from a pre facelift s3 wont work?

As i am upgrading and will likely cost a bit any better recomendations as far as components goes becaus the bose is ok but not mind blowing

Enlighten me gents?
 
Bose is grossly overrated.

I have this on my car as a factory fit.
Overblown woolly sound with mostly lower midrange trying to pass as bass.

There's much better to had if you consult a few of the ICE savvy people here.

It's just as well I can hardly hear the damn thing in my car anyway or I'd be disappointed.

Bose is ok but the subwoofers they install isn't worth having the bose name on, they are plastic and sound awful at any bass setting due to it rattling. Can't beat a wooden box for a subwoofer.

As far as installing it, it's a nightmare apparently.

Look for better aftermarket gear which will probably be easier to install

Get a big fart can on then you can listen to the pops an crackles of the exhaust instead of the pops and crackles on the bose system
