There's been a few times now I've been out in the car and it hasn't felt as quick as it has on other occasion.

Took my mate out for a drive last night and it didn't feel as quick as it has previously, there's been times where I've been glued to the seat when it takes off but I didn't feel it last night.

The car was warmed up, had done 10-12 miles before I'd picked him up.

How heavy is your mate!? ;)

Sport mode vs normal drive on the gearbox? Makes a difference to throttle response

is it possible that the button at the end of the pedal travel give more power? (in add to the downshift)

i felt the same sometimes but i always thought was "my falut"..

Different weather conditions ? - the increased density of cooler air will allow the engine to burn more fuel creating more power.

Sometimes depends on how smooth/slow you have been driving before you give it the 'beans'..I find sometime after a slow drive if I plant my foot hard on the pedal the auto box takes a while to get into 'go fast' mode..

Possibly, I'll take it for a run tonight see if I can work it out.

One thing I've noticed, I don't use full traction control but sport does a very good job of holding back power without you knowing. I turned it off completely and could feel the extra power and the tyres were struggling to put the power down.

In short what I'm trying to say is try it with the traction control off and see if it feels faster.

Also when you're trying to show your mates how fast it is, the car never feels as fast

I know what you mean but it was definitely missing something, it's had me glued to the seat when it takes off, didn't this time and it was very noticeable.

I'll give it a whirl without traction control see if it helps.

I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Have you got any mods?

I found in mine that if you leave the car in dynamic, turn the engine off and come back say tomorrow, it's almost like the dynamic hasn't fully engaged. It doesn't seem as fast, cycling through the drive select again and re-selecting dynamic fixes it

I use manual most of the time and there is a difference between sports manual and normal drive manual

it's because the gearbox has reverted back to normal, when you are in D, give the lever a nudge down and it will go back into S. you will see a S on the dial.

Turn traction control off works wonders

Is there a way of turning the traction control off completely, long press or such like?

Hold it down for a good few seconds

I'm really surprised anyone uses the full traction control, it's so intrusive. Sport isn't bad overall other than losing a little bit to much acceleration in 2nd

Haven't had a chance to give it a run out, had to get the other car cleaned so I can get it valued tomorrow then noticed battery was dead :sob:

Ur to used to the power time for a remap :superman:

Often have this problem, think it's just due to the very sensitive traction control, although the lights may not always flash the slightest loss of traction and it feels like the car only gives you 50%

It's getting turned off tomorrow!

I can't say I've ever noticed a lack of power in mine. I will say if I'm taking somebody out for a spin then I try and just take one passenger, two passengers and I tend to feel a difference in performance. Occasionally I've noticed driving home from work that it takes me by surprise. Now it's got a few thousand miles on it, it's definitely loosening up and pulls like a train. I can remember one day when it felt like it had an extra 50hp coming off roundabouts, I do think weather conditions play a big part more than it just being hot and cold. They are finely tuned machines after all!

Perhaps it's just a mental thing you've built up, thinking it's slower when it's not? I've had that a few times.....

I really think most of this is down to driving ability rather than actual difference in performance, ever wondered why on a track day when following the pro driver in the the exact same car as you that he leaves you for dead out of every corner?

Then there is a perception part as well

For example yesterday coming out of an average speed check area I was gently putting my foot down following the car in front, thinking my god wish he would speed or move to the inside up so I can go past, and when he did I pushed on the fun pedal and was doing well over 100 and would have sworn it felt closer to 80.

Haha...You're just like me, happens every time I get a new car. You'll just be getting used to it. The different modes have a difference on power delivery slightly but I wouldn't say the reduce the amount. E mode obviously reduces the boost pressure under various throttle positions. If you timed the car 0-60 in each mode they'll be close to identical.

Trying driving the car "normally" for few days then take it out for a blast. It'll feel like a rocket again.

Failing that pick a re-map and really enjoy it

Just had a run out and I'm sure the performance is better in Dynamic than sport, something definitely lacking.

Car in Dynamic mode , gearbox in sport mode and traction control off. I then use the paddles and find this is the best option to get the most from your car

I hate the Traction control.... it goes off everytime im in the car, I find it constantly interrupts even in you gently-but briskly pull off from a set of lights in this cold frosty weather.

But saying that my S3 is a manual and so is my current car
