Just having a window shop at uprated clutches for my 2.0 tdi 170 Quattro. Has anyone fitted any?

At first I thought there's only really the Sachs sre with organic friction plate darkside charge 690 for the full kit including luk dmf and bearing. Organic should be capable of 370lbft
But then I had a look else where and on demon tweeks there seems to be loads!

Black diamond, Helix, competition clutches, exedy and ap racing!
Black diamond seem fairly cheep and their stage three claims it's still road drivable and can take 40% more torque than standard which is about 360lbft

It's so confusing with no real reviews. I like the sound of demon tweeks because they can do finance and I'm rubbish at saving haha!

Would love some advice peeps!

i need one to james, i went looking at new wheels today and would you believe it my clutch started slipping in 6th quite a lot, good job i never bought any wheels, so looks like an uprated clutch is on the cards instead now, mines a 140 not sure if there's any difference in clutch's but the sachs kit is looking the best to me, i've been looking about all day at them and there is a few about but lots of them dont list for my bre engine code ? and yeh looks like with a dmf and all other parts needed it gonna cost about £600/£700:puke2:

mate of mine is getting in touch with a guy he use's to make his racing clutch's see what he can do, i'll keep you posted on what he says

Sachs SRE organic is best overall , should be a paddle version available capable of a bit more but with obvious drawbacks .

Yeah my town is pretty awful in summer with traffic jams so I was going with the organic not the paddle, it's not the driving I wouldn't mind the bite it's just darkside said for normal driving it can cause premature wear?
Tony is your 140 2wd? If it is my friction plate is 240mm and I'm sure 2wd are 230? Usually cheaper?

I know my old bus is not a torque busting oil burner but I bought a replacement LUK DMF & flywheel kit from ECP for £544 , its specific to BUL engine codes but that is the best price anywhere, I cant see a similar one for you guys being any more expensive.
I was told was good for 360ft-lb

think mines a 240mm as well and yeh it's fwd mate, it's making 3.19 ftlbs/432 Nm so i'm defo wanting an upgarde from standard.

you could move planets with that much torque from a 140 tony....

oh yeh, she go's Rob for 140, we did have it higher but i was wanting the clutch to last longer lol, if i knew it would only last as long as it has (since october) i would of left it higher lmao, i might fit the new clutch and go back to my mapper and get a bit more out of it ha ha depends what clutch go's in though really. dont want a real grabby one somewhere in the middle would be nice

I know it's not exactly the same but I use to use exedy organic clutches in my Impreza and the was running near as 400/400 was used for road then track days then full time sprint car and never had any slip. They do smell a little though when worked b

@James.c, hello mate got a bit of info here if your interested,

right then, the company that dose my mates racing clutches is called Max Torque Clutches, based in leeds, he can make a stage 3 paddle clutch and pressure plate for my car that will take 550 ft-lb (not Nm) for the price of £375 that is a serious amount of torque it can handle, so as i need one and i aint paying darkside £800+ for there kit i have ordered one from these guy's, then i'll just order a dmf, my mate swears by them and he's never had any issues with them so.... it should be in my hands in ten days so i'll keep you posted on what its like and when fitted, but as your only in Scarborough you might just be able to hear me launching it of the line at about 3.5k lmao

p.s. wheels might take a back seat for a while yet gents as this clutch will be able to take a bigger turbo,
not sure yet though.

just buy all the bits in one go tony , you know it makes sense......

i would need a lottery win to do that Rob, lol it is an audi don't forget. all in with the rest of the clutch parts i'm looking at about £650, £800+ on wheels, £600ish for tyre's, turbo £400ish, then mapping £150ish. good job my best mate is doing the fitting so it'll be for beer tokens lol

well my mate rang a couple of hours ago so it's all in and running fine, it has a little bit of judder if you gently pull away but a few more rev's and it feels fine, time will tell now as it needs to bed in for about 500 miles so i'll get back to you when i get the 500 under me belt,

here's some pic's for James.c, i know he likes them lol
