Hi Everyone

I'm new here and I've just got a quick one for you......

I have an audi A3 2010 8p

my car was serviced by audi, just the basic one 180 pound then I had my break fluid changed by Halfords. the service light went off after the following but now its back on again.

I know my car needs a cambelt change but I was lead to believe that the service light came on only when you need a service or break fluid change ?

I'm going back to Halfords on Sunday to get them to look at it. they must of turned it off because it was fine for about 2 months and now its back on again ?

not really sure whos cocked it up, most likey Halfords but if you could shed some like that would be brilliant.

Many Thanks

To turn it off, turn on ignition, pull the trip meter knob for about 8seconds until the message disappears. If that does not work you'll need vcds to turn the warning off. It works on my 2010 A3.
Your right in saying the cambelt due date does not trigger the service light.

On my 2011 S3 there are two service reminders. One is for the oil and one is for a service. They both can be individually set to fixed or flexible intervals or customised to suit. They both trigger the same spanner warning light.

It may be that Audi only reset the oil then a couple of months later the service light comes on (or vice versa).

I doubt Halfords has anything to do with it.

If you have VCDS you have to remember to reset both at service time, otherwise I would check that Audi did it properly.

Thanks for this guys... I went to audi in the end and they turned it off for me....... forgot to do it ! plonkers haha
