I've just put bilstein b8's with 20mm Apex coils on my 2001 amk running 18x8j sline wheels, and now I have a loud juddering/rubbing/screeching noise coming from under the car. It's only happens when I accelerate and seems to be getting worse. It's making no noise when I'm coasting or under braking. The noise seems to be coming from the bottom of the car. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Clutch/flywheel mechanism? If you've just dropped the car by 20mm I can't envisage any clearance problems.

That's what I was thinking due to it not being a constant noise. If I just gently accelerate so the engine speed matches the road speed it sounds like I'm stirring a big bowl of metal, then when I accelerate hard it there's a juddering/rubbing noise. It vibrates the whole car going up hill.

Here's a little vid from You Tube:-
You're on the spot so to speak so you need to be sure and perhaps get a quick opinion from a local garage but the fact that it's worse under load and differing driving/clutch positions, does tend to point to it.

Great thanks for the advice. I'll take it to the garage in the morning.

I had a seized front passenger brake caliper and it made the noises that ur saying about. Just thought i would mention that just incase.
Thanks there was no sign of brake seizure when I was working on it on the weekend but I'll have a look just in case.

Took it to the garage yesterday morning they're busy so going to have a look at it on Monday. I'll post the finding up just in case anybody's having the similar problems.

So I took it to the garage, they said an exhaust bracket had snapped off, dodgy repair job, and that the exhaust was resting on the subframe which was causing most of the noise. There was also a ****** CV joint and drop links were hanging off. I'm not convinced but I'm picking it up in the morning so we'll see. I'll keep you posted.

So I picked my car up from the garage and it sounded great. The engine mount on the driver side (cam belt side) was helicoiled. It's been a week now and the noise is back. I'm guessing the helicoil has given way!!!
