Awaiting mine in March , just a question do i need a spate lead to connect ipod classic (wide connection)to the car, i have a few from other cars kicking around but wondered if i needed a different type,

I think you need a blue collar cable. Thats what mine is connected via.

No need to spend any more than around £2.50 on amazon for one as far as I can see...

Isn't it just a USB. Port now? Thought the AMi leads with colour collars had been omitted on the B9.
Don't you just use the apple USB lead?

Yep I'm talking bs.

When I swapped over from my A3 to the A4 I never got around to reinstalling my iPod Classic and its still in my bag of things to sort out. - instead I just connect my iPhone using a lightning cable the dealer supplied for CarPlay or use bluetooth. Later I used another blue collar cable to connect yet an iPod classic in another A1 we bought which is where I've got confused.

I'll try a standard Apple USB data cable and see if this works. Remember we had issues with Album art never working on the Classi cthrough AMI.

Yep - AMI has 'special' cables, but the MMI just uses he standard USB cable. Had my wife's Nano connected to the car a few times. Nice thing is there is 2 ports and you can have an iPhone and iPod connected at the same time, and switch between them.

One thing I found cool, is if you use an SD card instead, on an MY17 it will look up album art too in some cases!

How big is your iPod @vinvinian ?
Could it be reaching the limit if tracks per device for the MMI?

One thing worth trying is plugging to iTunes and fully resetting it. (I.e update firmware / reset defaults.)

Do you just use the iPod in the car? Thought about using SD cards instead?
