Hi all, most of my driving is normally first thing (5am to work then 6pm finish) so it's dark when travelling... my headlights are crap... Might aswell be candles anyways can anyone recommend any better brighter bulbs? Don't fancy putting a hid kit from eBay in as my previous car had loads of problems with them and they don't last long.

I had a nosey in Halfords at there 120% brighter bulbs? Are these any good?

Cheers

They would probably be worth more than the car haha how much are they?

I just replaced mine and went for phillips whitevision xenon effect, im quite happy with them and they also came with sidelight bulbs.
They were about £30ish from ecp, if you need a discount code let me know they keep sending me them!!

How easy as the bulbs to fit do you really have to remove the bumper and the actual head light?

No mate, i just had to remove the airbox.
They are easy enough to change, just fiddly unless youve got small hands, the hardest part is refitting the airbox, and thats only fiddly, not difficult.
Took me about 45mins to do both sides plus sidelights.

I just fitted the Philips Vision 130% Bulbs and the lights are still pretty terrible to be honest.

+1 I'd also be interested in what you can do to improve the B7's headlamps please t8ups.

Halfords bulbs are rubbish and far too dear. Whatever percentage you get will be less good than you expected, so go for the highest if you can get them at a discount. Personally I have had brand name ones before Osram Nightbreakers and Phillips Visions and was always happy wtih them and felt they were worth the money, so that's wat I would go for.

if you want real bright cheap light ebay is your freind i brought some but had people flashing me all the time \s if i had full main beam on

Audi 100w Power Clear Standard H7 Low Dipped Beam Headlight Bulbs [477/499] RL6
( 291059929295 ) no longer for sale as this was 2014 when i got this but sure there be more of the same

I've had Osram and Philips bulbs and must say neither one really made much odd's.

If you're going for brands and want them to look half decent I'd go for the bluest legal Phillips one's (whatever they're called now, they're not really blue in the slightest just give a much nicer colour).

If you just want really bright lights and aren't willing to go HID or XENON you could try rally bulbs; 160w+ and not road legal but surely it would be very hard for the police/mechanics/anyone else to know the difference.

That'll be White Vision then , @ 4300K they won't be all that white .

Here's a road legal 5000K .

The Philips RacingVision are top dog but only have a mere 200 hr working life due to exhausted technology .

I replaced the stock halogen with Philips Extreme Vision (130% brighter). To be honest I didn't see much difference. I suspect that something with a higher colour temperature probably would have been a better choice.

Ordered a new pair of bulbs from Trups. Let's see how they are compared to Philips

Quick update. Have received the the new bulbs but haven't had a chance to fit them because of the weather and also that I've been really busy. I'll get back as soon as I fit them.

I got all new H7 bulbs from t8ups and his led side lights and I think there great. Give a nice bright white light and look very modern too.

Hit up EM tuning guy called T8ups. he made me a projector kit with shrouds (look like they are RS4 conversions). with 6000k fast start bulbs and units.

not had any issues atall. also his side lights match the dips

I've just put MTec H7 Cosmos Blue into my A3. Very white. Not been out at night to check distance. Took a quick pic, I've ordered the W5W DRL bulbs as well as the Philips White Vision look yellow in comparison.

Interested to hear how you get on, keep us posted.

Finally the update! The bulbs from Trups are good and gives out a nice white light. However my personal observation is that the Philips X-Treme Vision bulbs that I originally had are still better in terms of coverage and I've reverted back to them after after two months.

Next stop HID
