Hi all,

I'm at a loss on what is going on with my cars temp atm, i get it up to 90 and then turn the blowers on at 26 on the digital reading, while being on power level 3 on the other Digi reading. my cars temp then drops to bang on half way between quarter and 90 and doesn't rise back up very quickly atall.

Its had a replacement water pump and cam belt, thermostat and temp sensor. it never used to drop the temp even in colder temps than it is outside atm. all parts are genuine and fitted at audi

If it's a diesel it's normal as they loose engine heat really quickly compared to petrol engines.

I too thought mine held the heat better last year compared to this year but when picking the Mrs up from work I can sometimes be sat outside for a while waiting and I can basically see the temp gauge dropping.

Also with you having a replacement pump that may also factor into it a little as it must be doing a better job that your old one.

I personally wouldn't worry about it.

Its concerning that it never happened before and ive never seen a diesel new or old do it after changing the components that are related to it. something just seems a miss with it and i dont understand what. im going to get the diagnostics on it at the weekend see what codes are being thrown

Sounds like a sticky thermostat to me. I can't really see it throwing a code tbh but suppose it could be a dodgy cts although unlikely if it's genuine one, seen Ebay ones fail easily. Does the temp of the air from the vents change?
Sad day when an Audi Technician comes on to a forum to ask for advice!!

Not really a sad day when said audi tech left audi over a year ago (y).

more so ive exhausted all the diag id normally do other than putting it on a diag machine. thats my next call. it also never harms to ask on forums regardless. if you want to be a **** about things be one it makes no odds to me regardless. just shows me that im more of an adult...

It was only a tongue and cheek comment, you only said a few months ago you were an Audi tech so apologies for mistaking "yeah I'm an Audi technician" for I used to be one.

I'm more than happy for you to be more of an adult, Having just turned 40 I'll take being immature any day.
Anyway I'm done here, hope you get it sorted and sorry you felt I was being a ****.

On a side note, Now I'm even more sceptical of taking my car to a dealer. I now have a vision of the techs in workshops up and down the country standing around on their phones posting threads on forums or Googling how to fix customers cars, even for basic things.

tongue and cheek comment that was intended to be a **** take... if you want to take the **** go ahead and do it... i dont really care what you think regardless of my old employment... ive moved on and up in the world i suggest you do the same...

as for a few months... you loose track of time easily i see.

i dont see how its a "basic" thing when ive already excluded what any technician would do. making it a not so "basic" diagnosis.... like i said your always trying yet failing to take the ****. just like you thought you knew about the BRB engine before... anyone can comment in jest its easy... it just gets boring...

Anyhow like i said next step would be to get it on the diag machine... or should i say "basic machine" ? o_O

Take my comments with whatever intention you please, I can only apologise if you see them in a negative light and thay they bore you.

You got me tho, I lost track of time, it was actually a few months and about a week since you mentioned it.

I wouldn't want to you bore you anymore so won't bring up the the uber rare AMG wheels etc.

Best of luck with your "basic machine" whatever that is, I'll disappear now, hope you get it sorted(sincere intention).

Those wheels sold for £3,000.... and was bought by a Mercedes specialist... enough said...

the fact you always try to prove someone wrong is rather hilarious that you have nothing better to do.... must be the old age i guess.

you still think there is no 116 brb b7 on the roads which is the best part! and the fact they are rare and you dont believe anything anyone says is well pretty sad on your part...

haters going to hate though... jealousy really is your mistress pal...
