MPG readout?

Hi everyone, Just recently got my A3 58 plate 1.6. Unfortunately when testing out the car I didn't think to check how to see information such as MPG, AVG speed, etc. Currently the only information seen on the screens in the instrument panel is the time on the left hand side. Mileage on the right, with a single trip below that. The central DIS doesn't light up. Is this because the car is a basic model? or has something broken? I can't see anything such as Outside temp, MPG, AVG speed, more than one trip. The windscreen stalk is also basic without any switches on it to toggle anything or any reset button.

maybe you dont have an onboard computer
i have a seat ibiza 2007 without onboard computer so it is not showing fuel consumption

you can check if you have the buttons (in same place where you use your windshield wipers)

Have you tried pressing the button at the bottom of the stalk to see if you can change the computer mode (1/2)?

Sounds like you dont have the full system, as per the above reply.. do you have that stalk?
 
I have an Rs3 and mine doesn't have 1/2 but my diesel one does and my old S3 did ? Can u activate it or is it just not there ?
 
I'm surprised the RS3 doesn't have it. If you have the stalk as in post 2 with a little rocker switch on the end & reset button, it should be the full DIS.
Have a read up in the Owners Manual, tells you how to change displays and all about the 2 OBD's
 
Yes it's the same stalk but I've never had a problem changing from
1/2 before , but il read up and see what I'm doing wrong
 
Yes it's there slightly different tho as it only has average mileage in 2 and no instant , my others have both in 1/2 ??
 
You ain't driven:blackrs4: it yet, have you? When you do drive the car you'll see an average in 2, needs time and distance to do a calculation.
 
Yes in 2 it had an average bot not instant mileage only instant in 1
