Head lights INCORRECT adjustment LOWERED S3

Hey guys, had H&R springs on my car last week, now the headlights aimed to low! Obviously the ride hight sensors are out of wack.
I know how to adjust them with vag com... BUT has any one had this problem.... Have any of you had to bend the shaft for the high sensors after the car was lowered???? (sais on rosstech this maybe the case)

When I was having trouble with mine Sebastian at Ross Tech said the range on the level sensors was 1.56 to 3.45 volts, mine was running 1.2 volts on the front at the time and I'm running standard ride height. So long as you're inside the correct voltage range, resetting headlight range should make it OK.

Myself, I got them set at the right height and pulled the plugs off the motors, job done!

To set the head lights you need vag com, you have to put them in adjustment mode (neutral position) then physically adjust them up or down.
If the sensor is bottemed out the link arm to it needs to be bent to suit before adjusting.
 
do what everyone else does: disconnect the motors and adjust them mechanically. they wont self level anymore, but especially with coilovers and the like, you really don't need that function anyway.
 
Leave the motors where they are and disconnect the wires from the motors.
 
I might be a little funny like this.... but i cant just disconnect something on my car. If there there they must work properly!
Mine cycle fine they just need adjusting.
Im going out to do it now will let you know

DPM i think i know you....... S3 mats that got lost in the mail...right?

I know what you mean but the arm on mine keeps snapping!

We don't sell mats bud!
 
snapping while you bend it?
how low is your car ... what springs?
 
No i havn't tried to bend it, it just snaps by it's self. I lowered the car on Eibach springs then a few weeks later noticed the rear arm had snapped so i replaced it. Couple of weeks later i noticed it had snapped again, i've just left it this time. When i'm driving now the lights are very low so i don't know if this has something to do with it?

The wires you disconnect are on the back of the headlights, look on the radiator end of each light and you'll see a multi plug connected to a motor. The passenger side one is under the battery cover. Once these are disconnected there's nothing to adjust with Vagcom, you can however adjust the level with the screws.

If you do a search there's a description of how to level the lights somewhere IIRC, unless I read that on Ross Tech site, not sure?

Mine used to start at the correct height but then over the first few minutes driving gradually lower until they lit the road about three feet in front of the car. Gave me just about enough time to get out of the garage, off the drive and out of the village street lights before I was plunged into darkness. I just made sure they were at start position and pulled the wires off. I'll fix them one day, too busy getting the Corrado back on the road right now to have the S3 in bits too!

i have the solution and its dead easy.
Just put mine up on the ramps at a local tyre place. Where the link for the sensor attaches to the lower tie bar, it is possible to turn this around making the attching point lower to the ground. This restores the travel of the sensor to the standardish position. Obviously your sensor was reaching the end of its travel and the arm was snapping.
Have a look under your car and you will see what i mean
Hope this makes sense!

I assume my lights will be aiming sky high now instead of to low. I will adjust them after i see what there like tonight.
 
Just took it out for a drive now lights are good slightly high, but hey that will do me fine.
