As the title asks, what aftermarket stereo's have people fitted? I'm trying to hunt down a decent stereo but not sure what's good and what isn't. Can anyone share what they've got with positives and negatives to the system? I'd ideally like a double din touchscreen thats pretty responsive and not laggy, got DAB, and would work well paired with an Android phone! Doesn't seem to be much on the market that look any good with android phones? Any input and help will be appreciated.
Thanks Cia.

I bought a Alpine unit off of a forum member, pretty straight forward to fit and it came with the fascia, loom and steering wheel control module, well happy and I think it looks ok.

Got an Android head unit in mine similar to the Xtrons. Steering controls work and it can even talk to the car properly with the right bluetooth adapter.

I also love having Spotify in the car!

I've fitted a kenwood ddx4016dab. It's double din touch screen. Works well with my android phone as in calls, music streaming via Bluetooth. Has USB connection and can have sat nav and reverse camera fitted to it to if required.

Thanks for the replies guys, I like the look of the xtrons one and the Android one sounds good, would be awesome to have Spotify in the car! Do you have anymore information on the Android one? Do you connect it to your phone using person hotshot?

Mine was purchased from Amazon. Do a search for Pumpkin Double Din headunit. I use my phone as a hotspot however you can plug in a 3G dongle for Internet as well.

One tip for you, get an Erisin Android head unit as it is direct fit for the A4. Mine was a PITA to fit with all the plastic bits you need.

I've been looking at that one Tony, I think that's the one I'm going to go for. How was it to fit? Did you have any problems?

I drive an A8 and (A4 9B6) went for an audio upgrade and here is my story

Erisin and their distributor Car Parts Mall on ebay, sell head units which got a software upgrade in 2016 and now seem to no longer support Audi. I have had the company Erisin send 2 different units - neither power up and stay on (they auto shut down immediately after Android boots). This happens even when hooked to a clean 12V source. They will not refund my money and nothing they told me about the units and their function (in the new software release has been true - this video shows the new issue & them claiming it has been fixed is not true - Left high and dry & out of cash by Erisin the manufacturer & "carparts-mall" seller on ebay.....

Any advice from this audi group would be good.

I would request a refund under buyer protection on eBay. Despite it being branded Erisin they are all essentially the same headunits.

Did they say it would work in the Audi? If so that's even better you can return as not fit for purpose, failing that just return it as not working.

Do you have the Audi specific Canbus adapter for the headunit? They should have supplied you one.

Thanks

Thanks for a reply. I am out of the 30 day window because shipping from China time, combined with arguing to them about it not working and their useless attempts to resolve it stretched out so much. Yes it has an audi A4 specific canbus in the kit - who knows if that is causing the problem (as they shipped me 2 units both with same problem)...
