Hi guys.

I have a lovely s3 sportback. R tech Custom stage 2+ map giving about 370bhp and 400ld torque
Full bcs powervalve 200 cell exhaust
Revo intake
Rs4 valve
Loba hpfp
New helix organic clutch with 30% higher pressure pressure plate
NEW Luk DMF

What else is needed to go tte420 or similar without the need for a rebuild..

Who could do it and what sort of cost
Many thanks

The best currently would probably be the TTE48o,which would still keep you comfortably under the stock engine torque limits.
With either the 420 or it's bigger brother, you'd still need RS3 injectors and at least budget for an uprated LPFP(the RS model is usually the one of choice now).

I'd say that Rick at Unicorn would be a good choice for mapping, and I can only recommend companies I already know such as Storm and AMDTuning for the build.

Costwise, you'd be best asking @TTE Si for that, and add in the costs of an LPFP and injectors at around £800,and then some labour.
@leshkin should be able to give you a better idea on that.

Great reply Alex.. many thanks
Ill look into those things...

And probably an uprated intercooler would be a good idea if you haven't already got one.

I have just purchased the Loba xx4 , rs4 fuel injectors and modified loom , i will also b e purchasing a 165 fuel valve , ttrs lpfp , rfd .Hopefully with my wmi we are aiming for around 450-480 bhp which should be possible , forging will also take place next year .AKS and R tech will be doing the work required .

What you have now is very close to what my spec was before TTE @Hookmonster

There are a couple of routes here and if you go down my chosen path you will need an Intercooler (I have an AirTech Stage 2 unit), TTRS LPFP, RS3 8V injectors, injector seal kit and modified injector wiring harness if you want to get the most of what the engine can offer short of forging it. Unicorn or R-Tech would be my choice for mapping as they both seem to know this sort of setup and are getting decent results. With Rs3 injectors I heard that potential power output can be higher than the other option.

Some say that you will need an upgraded LPFP controller, but I have not had any issues with the stock one yet - granted my system is not running at full capacity due to RS injectors not being installed yet. I'd hold off on upgrading the controller until you know that you need it.

The above is not the cheapest, but arguably the route that should result in best reliability due to the fuel system not running at or near full capacity. You could go down a significantly cheaper route and keep stock S3 injectors, but upgrade the RS4 valve to a 155psi or higher fuel return valve. This will allow you to run a much higher fuel rail pressure and force a lot more fuel through the stock injectors. This will allow you to run safer air/fuel ratio and make good power, but it is likely to also increase the load on the HPFP/cam follower, which will probably result in the cam follower wearing a lot faster. In addition, running stock injectors over their capacity may cause premature injector failure.

If you wish to go down the same path as me, then give AKS tuning a call, who can supply the correct injectors, seal kits and wiring harness for around 600gbp.

The 600 might sound like a big outlay, remember that you can sell your old injectors for about 150gbp. The 155psi fuel valve is about 140gbp, so going down the RS injector route is not that much more in the grand scheme of things :)

Great helpfull comments and advice.. thanks guys

As Leshkin says, the current advice is that the RS3 injectors are the best and Rick @ unicorn has the most experience with those.

Having used RS4 injectors I wouldn't recommend them due to the incorrect spray pattern and consequent smoking although again rick is the man for mapping those.

My solution was totally different and way more complex so unless you're after the 600s I wouldn't go that way either but I can say that a Syvecs Ecu on this engine is another league altogether.

Rs4 injectors are fine Alex at AKS tells me they are not a problem and Niki can map them no worries . :)

As long as you have someone who can do what they say they can do then it'll be fine.

I have complete faith in AKS and R Tech .

Not doubting that,or their abilities.
It was always difficult outside of a few custom mappers,to find anyone with the right skills to make these things work properly.

For instance,Revo specc'd them for their big turbo software, but could never stop them smoking.....

Nice, you'll be around the 450lbs mark then which is what the Spec 2+ clutch is rated to. I'm still wanting to get mine fitted but that won't be until some time next year as Stage 2+ won't happen until 2018 most likely now :(

We will have to see , I don't really go for chasing numbers , it should definitely be a fair bit more powerful though , tbh it's ****** fast enough now lol

Yeah for sure, it's more about how it drives and power delivery, I was thinking more in terms of that even at that level of tuning then it still won't slip so you wouldn't have the need to get a Spec 3+ clutch fitted which is good for the piggy bank.

I can imagine mate, I'm enjoying stage 2 but am absolutely dying to go stage 2+! Patience will have to prevail which is frustrating when it is my weakest point!
