RS3 Saloon or Sportback

There is no news though Jono and all that keeps getting posted up here is nonsense and look how many pages long it is now.

I was told a few weeks there is nothing in the pipeline for a FL RS3, if there is it will be late next year and if they do have ideas for it then it will almost certainly be displayed on their goodwood stand.

New RS3 Sportbacks being tested in the wild.

Yep, looks production ready too -- can't wait! Expect it's availability with the saloon. ;)
On a serious note though, could be legit. If that's the case it'd be perfect timing for trading in middle of 2018...;)

Assuming the video hasn't being doctored, the dash cam date is from two days ago. Front-end looks like the RS3 saloon. Image taken from another forum.

As some one said in the other forum, probably an RS3 Performance edition to be released at the end of the 8V platform? Possibly? Didn't know that Sepang and Catalunya were available on the FL?

That's fine with me, the extra performance from the saloon could justify a performance edition. That combined with refreshed infotainment will make a for a very nice hot hatch. I'm in.

This does make sense, and my dealer has been absolutely adamant they've been told the SB and Saloon are coming at the same time, the SB possibly sooner. I said "are you sure?", he said "Yes."

Looks legit. Middle of next year before release if it is.

If it is a facelift SB why would it come out before the saloon which itself is at least 12 months away in the UK?

I'd heard Summer 2017 for the saloon. Although Audi is that useless at sticking to launch dates that a year wouldn't surprise me.

It's expected to arrive earlier than that in other markets. Even the UK site only says late 2017 which probably means third quarter at the latest.

Well if it is late 17, early 18 I don't see the point in changing as the new 8W platform will be due later in 2018.....Latest model blah blah blah lol

Stolen from the other side...Pause for thought though.

Because all indicators point to a smooth, well planned and timely roll-out of an ALL NEW PLATFORM based RS3... LOL

Didn't it take them 3 years to get an 8V RS3 to market?

That's exactly my point, when the all new A3 is revealed we know the corresponding new RS3 will be years away. Makes even more sense to bring the facelift SB to market.

I'm misunderstood, I genuinely hope it gets out at some point as by then I'd probably be looking at a replacement. My point is Audi seem to be having problem after problem which is causing delay after delay with the new models.

I am going to see a TTRS 2017 model today and yes it is for real. It's one from a 15 car pre series although I don't know how they share them but we have at least 3 cars in Sweden.

The continuous rebuttal of the FL speculation from current owners that "don't mind if a new version is released" is the biggest nonsense spouted in this section.
The reality is some hate the very thought of it, hence the constant clamping down on any form of speculation, questioning of timing, etc etc. Life is too short for that.

Let the speculators enjoy the forthcoming facelift news and just enjoy your cars; there is always something better out there or just around the corner, that's the way the motoring industry works.
I'm looking forward to seeing if improvements have been made.

Sorry mate. I wasn't having a go. A year ago I would've agreed with you completely but the TTRS debacle makes me think NO-ONE, even the product managers at Audi can say when a car will happen. Hence your notion that we could expect something logical from Audi has become a bit of a personal joke.

I am quite excited that there appears to be a plan for FL SB though. As one of TX's "FL dreamers" I don't mind admitting I regret cancelling my order a smidge more every day. I estimate I'd be about 5K miles into my Nardo coloured patch of heaven by now if I hadn't. And as you, TX and others pointed out long ago, the decision to hold out for a FL will transpire to basically forgoing a generation of the car. Hence my pessimism for speculation about the version beyond the next version!

In all, this clip is good news for anyone who likes their small, fast, glorious sounding cars in hatch form, whether a current or future owner.

I think it's great news for the guys who didn't manage to get their hands on the current RS3. I just hope Audi don't repeat the mess of the release of the last one and get production/ordering on song this time. Release dates are fine, but some of the waiting times last time dependent on spec was 6-9 months. I'd be interested in looking at the new one when it does appear, but it would have to be a big step up for
me to consider it. Like I said, great news for guys waiting but not convinced with Audi at the moment. It's great to get a customers attention and interest but then the trick is to deliver the product on time, something that both the TTRS and if rumours are to be believed issues with the Saloon also.
People have to be release if in here otherwise we theoretically will be posting in here for the next 18 months...

l actually prefer the RS3 Saloon now its a grower, also coming from a Sportback car....so a Saloon for me,but what does'nt float me boat on it is, the Matt Alu/Bsp packs...seen the TTRS without them and it looks better, and seeing that Face lift RS3 is a real shocker....but the way Audi are just now, nothing should surprise us

Bearing in mind that the FL A3/S3 has only recently come out, as a mid-life facelift, maybe the next gen A3 will be 3 years away? Life cycle is normally 7 years if I remember correctly.

Therefore it would make sense for the FL RS3 in whatever form to be released a year or so before. Cannot see Audi releasing the FL version and immediately announcing a completely new platform. Surely there must be some timescale between??

Anyway, I am happy to have had mine for just over a year now, no plans to update if and when the FL arrives. Hopefully for the guys and gals who have been waiting, it will happen...

So £450 a year for 5 years for an RS3.. We have to get rid of this Tory Government PDQ.

Which would be the same for a fully loaded A3 1.4TFSI....Ok you literally need to tick every option to get it over the £40k mark, but it still points out the utter stupidity of the new VED rates!

Actually...its pretty easy to get a A3 eTron to £40k, even with the grant so that's a better comparison!
