New Member New Car

There's not much difference between the torque and the way it's delivered these days, my 1.4 petrol engine developed the same as the 1.6 diesel, and at the same rpm, but have more power and averaged 44mpg around town. There are argument for and against the dying out diesel's but torque in modern petrol engine technology isn't

Unfortunately that was destroyed when vag released a 1.4 petrol engine that had the same torque as a 1.6 diesel with more power and almost as good mpg. It also didn't rattle, vibrate, smell or have to perform regens on regular periods. Diesels will disappear in our future as they will be banned for what they are and when petrol engines get variable compression who knows, they might be even better than the diesels they will replace..
The 2.0 TFSI makes more sense to me based upon mileage, but the fact it lacks the torque meant it just didn't feel the same.

I hope petrols do take over once again, but until then I'll stick with the oil burner.

Heard back from dealer; I wanted to add a parking assist system or the rear view cammera but apparently at stage 20 we can't add any of these.. Shame. Does this sound reasonable to you guys or is my dealer just being lazy?

I never use hill hold unless on a very steep slope. When activated it slows the car down when pulling away, rather annoying when you don't really need it. For £75 you may as well have it.

If you tap the accelerator when hill hold is active it starts the engine but doesn't disengage the HHA, then when you pull away it's not as lazy.

Status 20 is preparation so definitely too late to change I would say

1) you can open with the key but not close it.
My Avant opens and closes using the key fob, to close you hold the button a bit longer.
Not sure if this is standard or if it comes with the Comfort and Sound pack.

Only with the Comfort and Sound pack as I believe it requires the advanced remote key.

Of course that's just an arbitrary software change to add value :(

"1) you can open with the key but not close it."

Hmm was just reading the manual on this - the one linked on this forum.

It says you can "press and hold the - button on the remote control key (on vehicles with convenience key*) until the boot lid closes. make sure to stand clear ..."

I dont think i have convenience key as thats one with the confort pack?

I am pretty confident that light and vision pack is as intended. It makes me nervious that they have a "vision pack" and a "light and vision pack".

Apparantly my order is in system though women cant take my deposit until she back on monday. Ill need to confirm then as I certainly dont want vision pack. I want those headlights and the interior mood lighting.

I was looking up c class deals to reassure I made right choice.

Even though model is 2 years older, deals dont make up for that.

I got 18% off this car and you can get 22-25% off the merc. However, they charge 4.8%pcp vs audi 3.9.

They do offer better toys as standard though and have very convenient packages. Permium plus gets you pretty much everything you would need.

However, if I wanteed driver assistance, premium plus, 4 wheel drive and an estate it would cost me MORE. That is without even taking into account my 3lt engine vs their 2.1 ltr. Baloon payment is higher with the newer audi which helps keep payments low.

Both are very good cars but for mega spec estate the audi wins. With 4 wheel drive it wins by quite some way.

If I was buying a saloon without the driver assistance pack then I think the merc might have tempted me though. You can get an amg 250d premium plus for 5k + 300 per month right now which is rather impressive. its 40k car for about 30k.

As far as the packs are concerned you should have a order that states the codes for each pack, that will define exactly which ones are in your order...

Here is detail section of order

Well WB7 is indeed the light and vision pack, whereas the light pack only is WB6. You can find the answers within the brochure...

There is a light only pack? I know there is a vision pack that's has the v cockpit, head up display and adaptive lights. Not matrix though.

What I want is the v cockpit, full matrix lights, washer system and multi coloured led interior lighting

Looks that way, just make sure you've not been charged extra for the vc as it is part of the light and vision pack..

Hmm thIs is odd

I thought I had to pay deposit of 1k for This order to start

Just got email to say they will not need any deposit until car is there

So they doing big factory order with complex spec with no down payment !! ??

It happens, I've never paid any deposit when ordering my cars. Think it depends how confident the dealer is that they could sell the car if you backed out of the deal. Unless you've ordered hot-pink with a whacky spec you're probably ok!

Thing is it's quite a complex build and my broker said they were worried I would pull out due to tax changes 1st April and this comes under luxury car tax

Delivery date 3rd week in march

No complaints here of course

That is strange, every car I have had new since 2008 I have paid a deposit on and so has my partner, and no unusual specs either. Even the new Seat Ibiza I ordered for my daughter in november I had to pay £500 in advance for...

Also, Im sure my broker said that they were a bit worried I would pull out if it was delivered after april 1st.

Also, thought broker said they would want their fee straight after 1000 downpayment

With the rest of it to follow on delivery ..

I am starting to think they have made an error but as long as the car is on order, not really my problem.
