Good evening.
I'm hoping he replace the stereo in my B6 with a double DIN satnav unit.
It currently has the symphony 6 CD changer, so I believe I don't have to mess about moving the HVAC controls?
But what adapters will I need?
Does the symphony have external amplifiers?

All A4's have external amps for the rear speakers and sub. The fronts are managed by the head unit.

You will have to run a switched live from somewhere as the oem unit doesn't need one, I used the thin red wire from the wires under the steering column as a trigger for a relay on a 12v feed (just took a feed off the stereo loom constant live).. The benefit of using the red wire is it goes off when you remove the key from the ignition :)

How do you get around having the issue of the rear speakers and sub having an amp, and the fronts not?

There's an adapter you can get, my audio is all aftermarket so I never needed the adapter as I don't run rear speakers.. you will need a powered aerial adapter and the rear speakers/sub adapter or I guess you could splice the wires from the second ISO (brown) to match up with the new head unit ISO wires.

Apparently it's the PC9-401 adapter you need to get the rear speakers and sub up and running.

It's a definite blessing that you already have a double din setup, mine didn't and it was a pig to sort it all!

It isn't Bose, no.
Will look into it, think I know what I'm doing now. Cheers.
