MMI thinks iPhone 7 has made a call

Most of the time when my iPhone 7 makes the bluetooth connection to MMI, the audio goes off and the MMI indicates that it is connected on a call. The call timer is running but End Call doesn't work. The phone shows no evidence of being in a call. Actually making a call on the phone and then hanging up (again on the phone) clears up the problem until the next time the phone connects with the car. Resetting the connection and re-installing IOS has not helped.

When an app uses the mic the MMI can think you are in a call, check any apps for this? Maybe disabling siri could help.
Or wait for iOS 10.2 should be coming out this week and hope it is fixes

Thanks for the ideas. The phone is always locked with no APPs are running...except SIRI (which you can turn off but then Voice Control takes over). I'll try to be aware that I don't push the home button when I put the phone in my pocket......
