@Scottyg - 'Tis a great shampoo mate
After a bit of experimentation I found 9ml of shampoo to 15litres of water works best for me
Err no. Having followed a quarry truck for a mile my car is now "also available in black". It's on my Christmas to do list.@scotty76 - You tried this yet buddy ?
Finally got round to this today. I used 10ml in my bucket and approx 15l water. I found I had plenty of suds in the bucket but actually on the panel it seemed quite thin. Still felt slick and car came up mostly clean with a few marks left. Think I need to work on my mix. The water round here is hard and even though the house has a water softener the wash bucket is usually a 50/50 mix of soft and hard water (cold water supply in kitchen is on the unsoftened supply).@scotty76 - You tried this yet buddy ?
Angelwax QD is supposed to be good!Was at a Tartan Tarmac breakfast meet last week outside Glasgow and the guys from Angelwax were handing out some free QD samples and air fresheners. Will be trying this out in place of the Sonax BSD next time car is washed.

A question for everyone... What bags have you got to store your detailing stuff?
I've been looking at toolbags with plenty of pockets and no luck. I've seen a bag on DW posted in 2010 a bag called Roebuck and honestly that bag is amazing!! AND FOR £20! An absolute bargain! Unfortunately they don't do them no more, I've literally searched the entire web and no luck.

Personally I use a rucksack that came with my Mini full of cleaning products along with a big plastic box for all the 5 litre products etc.
How about this though from screwfix, bargain price and would do the job?

Thanks for or the info. I'm sure I'll have to get to the stage after maybe watching some videos with some claying guidance. Depends how bad the car gets. I'm tempted to just take it to my detailers once a year and pay the small amount for a quick decontam after every winter say.W6 is a chemical method of removing embedded iron particles. It reacts with iron, turning it purple, dissolving it and allowing it to be rinsed off. This will only react with iron so won't help much with other contaminates.
Clay is a mechanical method of removing not just iron, but any inorganic or organic contaminate. When I first got into detailing the chemical methods, such as fallout removers and tar removers, weren't that big and most people just used clay. The benefit of these chemicals is they can greatly reduce any marring caused by claying, as less contaminates will remain, but you still need to clay IMO.
Clay is a really effective tool and something I always do when the car needs it. The chemicals are good, but nothing beats the versatility and effectiveness of a clay bar.
