Next Upgrade?

Hi guys. I have an a3 8l aum and I'm after some advice off you 1.8t legends lol. Basically I want to know if there is an obvious relatively low cost performance upgrade (less than £200) that i have misses and would benefit the car...

It's currently around the 220 bhp/ 250 ft lb mark.

Mods as follows:

AmD stage 2 map
3" downpipe and decat
Miltek cat back
Panel filter
Silicon Tip (sfs)
N249 bypass
Sai removed
Upgraded smic

I know most of you will say fmic but that seems quite a bit of work and want to keep the engine bay looking resonably stock in appearance. Would i really see a difference?

To me the next obvious stage to gain any real horsepower would be a hybrid ko3s but that with all supporting mods is just too much to spend on a car only worth £1500 imo....

FMIC... then you may get to keep some of the 220hp a bit longer.... and yes, they make a massive difference over the std sidemount... especially if it really has got 220hp... as it will be lucky to do that more than once after its first cold run on a dyno...

Thanks Tuffty... the routing of the charge pipe is the only concern though as I don't like the look of the ones that go diagonally over the rocker cover into the nearside corner. I have seen some fmics that have inlet ports and outlet ports both on the throttle body side buy they don't seem to be as readily available. Is there a downside to these types of fmics?

A decent enough one is ok at the level you are at... you could argue that flow is compromised a little but in the grand scheme of things I very much doubt it would have any noticeable effect with a K03s and you would gain much more with a FMIC than you would ever lose flow wise from it

There is a relatively cheap kit that I believe works well but can't remember the name... maybe one of the A3 boys will chime in

Considering he has upgraded the SMIC already,
tbh I didn't spot that... still a FMIC would arguably be better than the uprated SMIC and could be partially financed from selling the SMIC...

WMI is an option though...

Is the updated smic the aluminium forge things or there holes cut into the wheel arches?

Also is water methanol injection only £200 ? That a couple of tanks of petrol.
 
The smic is aluminium and I have also cut slats in the inner wheel arch yes..... Cool I'll look into WMI then if it's that cheap?

Wmi is around £350-400 plus fitting. I doubt you will get it for £200
 
Hmmmm...... that's over my budget and tbh I couldn't justify spending that amount on the old girl really...

Aside from a FMIC which I may well end up doing, is there anything else anyone can suggest which would see me any noticeable gains/improvements?
